So are the only options for watching the mariners games on ROOT either paying for cable, fubo, or direcTV stream?
I currently pay for hulu + live TV but was disappointed to learn they don’t carry root sports.
Any other options I’m not aware of?
This season I bit the bullet and signed up for FuboTV.
It actually works, the quality is good, and I can watch it anywhere so it seems to be pretty good so far. The apps that they have for your phone and damn near any smart device seem to work pretty smoothly too. There’s a week trial if you’re curious.
This is ridiculous.
Why does MLB make it so hard to watch their product?
I am fully conversant with VPNs and other technologies, but there are plenty of people who aren’t and are not interested in jumping through myriad hoops to watch a game.
It’s almost like MLB is actively trying to disengage fans.
This is a good website to watch baseball for free
I watch them through my XBOX browser on a free streaming site. Not sure if I can send the site link on Reddit, maybe others here will hook you up.
I watched every game last year on StreamEast which had the Root broadcast
Is your IP address in a blackout zone for the Mariners? You could get mlb.tv if not. I also have Hulu with Live TV and love it, but have fortunately got MLB.tv for free one way or another and that’s how I watch games.
I had nordvpn and mlbtv on my firestick and it would not work for me. Sounds like im the only one having that problem
This is what I did last year, it’s probably the cheapest option if you just want to watch Mariners games. Also bought a TV antenna to get local channels.
Can you get a vpn to work on a smart TV?
Which country do you buy MLB.TV from?
It’s cheaper than cable, but around $50 a month still isn’t really that cheap. I just get tired of feeling like these streaming and cable companies use our fandom as a way to hold us hostage and make us keep paying more for content. I think sports is about the only thing keeping cable/satellite companies afloat at this point and I really hate doing anything to support their shitty business models. I know Fubo isn’t cable but it’s still pretty expensive for what it is, even if it is a quality product.
Can vouch, did the same at the end of last season and have had nothing but great results. Works well on mobile devices too, awesome for gym use.
There’s a really nice feature on Fubo that I didn’t get on Hulu: if you go to record a game after it’s started because you’re a moron it actually lets you see the whole game from the beginning.
The 250 hours of DVR space as opposed to 50(?) is nice as well.
The first week I had it I put most of Ken Burns ‘Baseball’ on it because why wouldn’t I? Now I don’t have to drag the VCR out of the basement.
It’s not MLB. It’s the mariners. They own Root Sports. And Root doesn’t like playing nice with providers.
I’m kinda late replying, but same! 75/mo for Root!!! Screw that! So i got mlb and now learning all the mariners games are restricted… Gotta figure out how to VPN from my tv i guess…
Why is this not higher up? Fubo is the cheapest way to get root
And get a bunch of Brazzers pop ups
By chance could you send that to me? We finally get a decent Mariners team and it drives me nuts that I can’t watch it.
correct, I am in western WA so it is blacked out
