Can't uninstall Forticlient - Help!

Hello,

I installed Forticlient 7.0.7 on my personal computer (Windows 11) and imported the config file of my work-issued laptop Forticlient, hoping I’d be able to connect directly to the VPN with my personal computer.

It didn’t work, and more annoyingly I can’t seem to be able to uninstall the stupid software. I did try

wmic product where "name like 'Forti%%'" call uninstall /nointeractive

but to no avail. I’m guessing it’s because the config is locked and I can’t unlock it without a password (which is neither my VPN password nor my local Windows admin password). I even tried booting in safe mode, but still impossible to uninstall.

How can I get out of that pickle?

You should call your IT dept

If your forticlient is connected to the EMS server you can’t uninstall it, you will need a password set on the EMS server to unisa Forticlient.

Ask your EMS administrator for this info

Sounds like someone flew too close to the sun.

Download Total Uninstall to force uninstall FortiClient. I didn’t have the admin password to disconnect from telemetry and Total Install uninstalled it anyway. I just tried it right now and it worked perfectly.

Do you have access to fcremove.exe for the version you installed? I’ve had to do that a few times when things go awry.

Total Uninstall helped me delete every annoying app like a user already mentioned. I recommend it

If your a local admin on your laptop you can uninstall it by doing the following:

  1. Open command prompt as admin
  2. Net stop fortishield (give this a bit to end)
  3. Open task manager as local admin and end the scheduler.exe process
  4. Open services as admin and disable forticlient.
  5. Reboot
  6. Uninstall

I just had the same problem. Despite my better knowledge, I used WMIC.

The MS uninstaller troubleshooter worked for me (Windows 11, Forticlient 6).

Thanks a million! I accidentally installed that crap and i couldn´t uninstall it. Ended up here and dled TU. Finally got rid of it.

I used a former version of fcremove (6.x) I found online, it worked!

a mi no me sirvió. aún tengo el fortiClient y estoy obstinada. nada me ha resultado.

It was worth a try, but I can’t stop the fortishield service unfortunately, even though I’m an admin.

Edit: talked too soon. I was able to go to step 5, but uninstall is still impossible. At least it’s not starting :slight_smile:

Edit 2: FCremove was able to get rid of register entries and files, it’s all good.
