Why 'Japan' region still exists for queues when the SEA region servers are also in Japan now?

make no sense.

btw, not saying SEA players are happy with the servers been in japan now. because most players definitely not happy. ping increase, lag etc etc. so not gonna talk about it again in this post because i already did before.

this post is about how stupid is to have 2 labels for servers which comes from same origin…
it also keeps the unnecessary separation of the asian playerbase, but this time for no reason.

Is that why my ping in SEA is so slow now? I used to get 30 ping, but it suddenly jumped to 90-110 one day. It all makes sense now.

I think something similar happend with the North Latin American servers switched from Mexico to Chile (which isn’t even in northern latin america lol) and most people ended up switching to North America instead because of less lag, making North Latin America a desert in terms of players and most people that play there are from Chile, Argentina, Peru, etc because they basically have no lag

I am one of them lol, as a Chilean the lag of the Brazil server is horrible to the point that I now only play in North America or Northern Latin America

Wait, really? How’d you come to know SEA servers are also in Japan now?

EDIT: I use a VPN to even lower my ping to the 30s in SEA and wondered for a couple weeks now why it isn’t working and the change in server location might be the reason.

To assert dominance.

since like beta days SEA servers were in Singapore. the place where they should be. also those were good servers.
enjoyed high mobility a lot. then they were moved to Hongkong. now in Japan.

Now I want to know how Brazil lags more than NA if you are in Chile

players has confirmed this. ping has confirmed this. and also recently a software showed me that im connected to a japan IP when playing paladins on SEA.

about the VPN thing. i never get this “using a VPN to reduce ping” thing! how can it be possible?
though i never tried it, to my knowledge what should happen if you do this, is, increase the delays!
because with a VPN now you have to go through an extra IP means extra traffic. extra barrier for the data exchange between you and the game server.

i mean lets say the game server is in japan and you connect from china.
if you directly connect to the game server, then its,
china → japan.
but if you connect through a VPN as a japanese IP, then its,
china → japan → japan.

what’s the point of this? for me it sound like you are increasing your delays.

correct me if im wrong.

while playing check the ips u get connected via task manager if in windows

Else if you have a good isp, then they will check why the ip and try to fix if it’s their fault. My isp confirmed and also showed that the game is sending both SEA and Japan selection to Japan servers

Because not every internet provider in Chile does “bridge” with Brazil, some of them do with the US instead (most of them do it with Brazil tho), because of this if you are with one of the few that do it with the US (Claro, Entel. Etc) you are going to have an awful experience with brazilian servers but a good experience with NA servers
Luckily my Paladins friends are lucky enough to have these internet providers, so 90% of the time we play in the NA servers to avoid getting lag, however when I play any other games (Rocket League, Fortnite, whatever) with the rest of my friends (not Paladins friends) I lag like crazy, like 150 ping while the rest of my friends have like 30-60

players has confirmed this. ping has confirmed this. and also recently a software showed me that im connected to a japan IP when playing paladins on SEA.

I see. I’ll try reconfiguring mine and see how it goes.

what’s the point of this? for me it sound like you are increasing your delays.

Disclaimer: By no means am I a network engineer, but this is how I understand it.

I use a gaming VPN and it differs from a standard VPN since it only takes the traffic between the game’s servers and mine, which doesn’t affect my regular browsing, and finds the optimal route. Once the signal is sent from my home country, it isn’t always the fastest route to get to the game servers, so the VPN’s server/node will take that signal to the game servers the fastest. Most of the time, it is negligible and even worsens your ping depending on the VPN’s configuration and/or node. In SEA, I used to have 60-90ms ping and when I used the gaming VPN, it got down to 32-42ms ping. How do I know if this is even working? Using BK and projectile-based champions was more responsive. Hits and skills were registering more prominently. You’ll notice this if you chain your skills so much like I do (i.e. Evie’s Blink and using Soar simultaneously).

Again, I’m no network engineer, but this is how I understand it, so do correct me if I’m wrong.

hm,… interesting… i might have to research a bit about this (and use it for myself if necessary XD)
thanks for this info
