Why does google think im in australia?

This is making express vpn unusable for me, set to east midlands, ip lookups report coventry yet whatever i google gives me Australian results? Prices, web urls etc Any reason why?

I believe and am happy to be corrected that Google uses your account details location and not your physical IP location…so when you connect to say a UK VPN server from Australia it still will not allow you to access the UK play store for example…you would need a UK Google account location for that.

I have no solution as I experience the same problem despite the VPN location and smart location being on a different continent than Australia!

I also have this issue (in UK, using UK location VPN but getting Australia based results) and have tried changing all manner of location settings in Google/my devices as well as being logged out of my Google account, none of it seems to make a difference. It’s starting to make it impossible to search whilst using the VPN since all the results are for Australian websites etc.

I think it’s just Google that it affects but it’s pretty annoying

yeah either from the search bar or google.co.uk, if i disable the vpn it’s fine again giving me results for the uk.

I have the same problem in the US. Shopping is a mess somethings.

My fix for this was to switch back to Nord, nothing I tried got rid of the Australian results

I am having the same issue, super annoying.

Weird…I use ExpressVPN and its hit and miss that what it ‘says on the box’ actually works, almost impossible to get BBC iPlayer working from Australia through an ExpressVPN connection. Australia is one of the worst places for geo-restrictions on accessing overseas content from the UK/USA. I’m at the point where I just can’t bothered wasting my time.
