The Google search for “PIA” VPN has doubled after linus’s video about him preferring it
That’s amazing and shows the power of the Linus brand.
It’s kinda weird they cited a 2018 article to back their “no logs” policy. PIA is not even the same company anymore, only the service name remained. It’s a lot worse than it was before the company was sold. If anyone is interested, ExpressVPN, CyberGhost and PIA are the same company.
If you are not bothered with provider being located in the US, TorGuard is better quality/pricewise. Mullvad was pretty good but they stopped offering port-forwarding, so it’s useless to me, but if you don’t care about this feature, it’s probably the best. Proton is very good, but a bit expensive.
In short, if you are paranoic about privacy and need port-forwarding, Proton is your place to go. if you don’t care about port-forwarding but want the privacy - Mullvad. If you don’t plan to commit any serious crime and just want to use torrent with a peace of mind - TorGuard. They have a “no logs” policy, but since they are located in the US, the have to provide information if government ask the to, but you won’t get in trouble for just torrenting.
Hopefully they do another 3 year bundle like they did a few months before LTT Stopped getting sponsorships from PIA. It’s about to expire in 2025.
Really would like to see PIA’s acquisition by Kape to be addressed/at least mentioned in the video. While Deloitte security audits are a good argument that PIA is and do what PIA says, stuff could easily change in between audits especially with the history Kape has.
I’ve been using PIA for years but I’ve noticed their IPs are known to a lot of websites. Can’t watch any F1 videos on YouTube, and can’t watch F1 TV on their website.
YouTube also acts funny sometimes but usually I just have to reload the page.
Thats what the sponsors pay 100’s of thousands of dollars for.
I’ve been using ProtonVPN since PIA was sold. Between their VPN, email, and cloud storage, I’m quite happy.

PIA/tunnel bear are hosted/owned in the US. Every 3-4 years Linus changes his mind and shills a new VPN
Pretty sure I’m still using my same 3 year subscription back when they last sponsored LTT. I’ve had no problem with them and remember the price was great so whenever it expires I’ll probably just do it again for another 3 years.
