Sharing OpenVPN connection over WIFI from Mac

Sharing OpenVPN connection over WIFI from Mac

You could run a proxy server on the machine that has the VPN and have other devices on your network use that proxy over the local network.

I’m sure it’s possible to set a route but it would take some thought.

Connect the mac running the VPN to your router via ethernet (i.e. hardline) and then “Share this Connection” select LAN - share with Wi-Fi users.

Did you ever figure this out? I need to share my work OpenVPN to several devices over wifi

I’ve found following article about this topic.

https://davidhamann.de/2017/04/19/sharing-vpn-on-macos/

But be aware, this is a summary how he solved it, reading two articles fron another person who has shown how to archive it the first time and later explained what has to be changed, because of deprecated commands. So the first pointed article is just good to know, while the other one explains how to solve it!

I’m curious if a solution was ever found as well. Despite what the OP says, I’ve been able to get it working using the native VPN settings in System Preferences but I would really prefer to use the VPN’s client.
