NordVPN Windows 10 App Not Launching

When I launch NordVPN on my Windows 10 PC, I am given an option to Log In or sign up for a new account. I click Log In and nothing happens. I have been using NordVPN since 2017, and have never had this issue before today. Is anyone else having the same problem this weekend?

Update for me: I just downloaded the app again from Nordvpn and re-installed with that file and it’s working now.

I had the same problem. Was not able to find a resolution yet. If you open task manager and look under “Processes,” do you see NordVPN as a running process?

You could try resetting the NordVPN app settings. Here is a guide on how to do it: https://support.nordvpn.com/1789540332

Update: I attempted to reinstall NordVPN after downloading the latest version of the app from the website. Doing this took my PC offline, even after rebooting my PC. I had to uninstall NordVPN in order to get my PC back online. I’ll re-download and reinstall the app again soon and report my findings.

I have re-installed the latest NordVPN app and discovered that its new Threat Protection feature caused all web traffic to be blocked across every browser on my PC. I can still send and receive Usenet traffic (port 119), but not receive any web traffic (ports 80 and 443), when TP is turned on. Even worse, the wired connection from my PC to my router appears to have been reconfigured by NordVPN, and no longer works. Thankfully, I have a Wi-Fi antenna on my PC, which allows me to troubleshoot. I’ll keep working and report my findings. Any feedback would be appreciated.

UPDATE: I have discovered that I can NO LONGER use the wired connection to my PC unless NordVPN is connected to a server. What’s up with that?!? I have played with my networking settings and have not been able to find a solution. There must be a setting in the NordVPN app that is causing issues. As I have stated earlier, the “Threat Protection” feature of the NordVPN app is useless, as it prevents all browsers from sending and receiving data.

Same thing happening to me today. The last time I used it about a week ago, it worked fine.

Same here. Yesterday morning it worked fine, but last night it logged me out. Haven’t found a solution yet though.

You have to goto the website and download the updated version of nord. I had this same issue, weird that they don’t have an auto updater or that it didn’t work for this update. I couldn’t use it for two days then google foo brought me to a post that suggested installing the latest version and boom… I didn’t even have to re enter log in creds.

Looks like NordVPN has stopped any version older than 6.40.5 from working

Just a heads up for anyone using split tunnelling, the latest version is still broken. Version 6.40.5 is still functional. Download here:

Thanks for the reply. I see NordVPN as a running process in Task manager.

I should mention that I use Pi-Hole to block ads on my network. Perhaps there is a conflict between Pi-Hole and the latest version of NordVPN?

They did? Wth, those versions were the ones were Split tunnel still worked afaik. Do you know if that feature works on the new version?

Yup, definitely the same issue for me. Force close, multiple reboots, nothing got it to launch. I haven’t had a chance to mess with it today. I’m sure my next step will be uninstall/reinstall.

If you find a solution other than that let me know.

Thank you! I double checked and had the Internet Kill Switch turned On. DOH! I had meant to turn on the app kill switch for Qbittorrent and turned on the Internet Kill Switch by accident. You have solved my problem. Much appreciated.

Launched my machine this morning and Nord is functioning again. No changes made here.

Thanks for the info. I had never considered binding QBT’s traffic to the VPN interface. I signed into NordVPN and selected NordLynx as my network interface in QBT’s Options/Advanced menu. Very easy to do.
