Nord suddenly stopped working on my ATT phone

I only have internet through ATT Wireless for internet. Nord has always given me trouble but I could always get it working by reinstalling or clearing it out and starting over again.

It suddenly stopped working a few days ago. I saw that there was an update but it would not update within app. So I deleted the app and reinstalled from the website. I’ve since also tried installing from the Play store to my Note 20 Ultra 5g. I’ve changed every single setting in the menu, of course cyber sec, protocols, specialty servers, different countries, cities, cleared connections, installed from different browsers, made sure its not put to sleep via Samsung settings, still no connection.

Technical support has me trying the same options I’ve tried over and over and it doesn’t seem like they read my reports.

I have two years left on my subscription and I’m fond of Nord’s Adblocking features which is why I put up with the issues month to month.

I’m trying out Express right now but it doesn’t offer adblocking as far as I can tell. I’m short on money now, so this is not a good time to start another subscription.

I don’t have social media to make further contact with Nord support.

Any other suggestions to get Nord working? I’ve turned my phone upside down trying to get it back to no avail.

Anyone on Android Mobile 5.4.4 sideload in the US?

Edit: Support was able to get me back up and running by opening a new account for me. For some reason, the old account was showing I was connected to 6 devices somehow vs just the one connection on my phone. It’s working now. Hopefully, it sticks.

Okay get ready to put on your tin foil hat for what I’m about to explain. AT&T has been blocking and restricting VPNs for the past months now, if not at least a year. They are one of the backbone networks in the US so the control majority of the internet along side Verizon. Back at the beginning of February many types of VPN and Email servers went down or had their speeds cut by 70%. Why? Well AT&T (which is created by the CIA/ In-Q-tell) was testing how to throttle and infiltrate VPNs and encrypted networks. They also are trying to implement a social credit and a Great FireWall of China in America. I know it’s hard to believe but they’ve been telling people for over 20 years they’ve want a social credit system, digital cashless society no privacy and so on…

So all this has to do with AT&T (which is the CIA & NSA) are finding ways to block VPNs and encrypted networks, certificate jacking and other methods to spy on the American people. So you’re experiencing it first hand. It has nothing to do with NordVPN or any other VPN provider, they’re simply trying block encrypted networks or at least to intercept without being obvious. So far they’re failing but doesn’t mean they’ll give up.

I highly recommend watching this as he explains more in-depth of what they’re doing. The Great Firewall of...America? WTZ!

As a side note, I’ve done a massive test comparing the most popular phone companies that are main networks/backbones and I’ve concluded that Verizon is the least invasive carrier in terms of collecting data, restricting or throttling networks and allowing VPNs and Proxies since they offer their own. I live in Canada so I did a test here too and Videotron (for quebec) and Bell for the rest of Canada (if any Canadians who read this). That being said this is something to consider when choosing a carrier and why it’s important to know their privacy policies and how it doesn’t interfere on how you practice your privacy which includes blocking a VPN or proxy. Also, this doesn’t mean they don’t collect data, they still do but these carriers do the least based on my research.

I hope this helps and gives you a better understanding on what’s going on and how this may affect your experience with VPNs and just privacy in general. In my opinion, look into switching to Verizon (if you’re on a budget look into Visible they’re owned by Verizon). I know most of this seems irrelevant to VPN problems but it all ties together and understand for the future they will attempt to break into VPNs or shut them down.

Hmm, well that sucks. Thank-you for the thorough explanation. I just switched over from Verizon last year for a long list of reasons, awful data speed management being one of them. ATT customer service is marred in so much red tape, I’d give myself a heart attack trying to transfer out at this point. Fortunately I still have adblocking in some of my apps independently working. So I guess that will have to do. I appreciate you taking the time to bring this to light.

I could imagine Verizon giving a horrible experience with their customers haha. Sometimes I feel companies have two separate entities, the product itself and then customer support which is a whole other world as if they’re not even part of the company lol. I think you’d be alright with your current service, just make sure to keep doing what you’re doing with the ad block and maybe try obfuscated services or OpenVPN (TCP) and see if that works without any dropouts.

Alright, feel better there?

I’ve toggled every option in the menu (obfuscated/TCP included) and reinstalled myself silly on this. For now at least, it is dead. I try every few hours just to see if I can resuscitate, to no avail.

Indeed customer service is a lost art. Appreciate all the tips, will do!
