Lose Internet when connect to VPN

Have had GNS 500 Mb service for just over a month. Pretty happy so far or I was until this morning. Not sure what’s happening but every time I launch my VPN I lose internet connectivity. As soon as I disconnect the VPN internet resumes. Anyone else having/had this issue? TIA

There’s not much to go on in your description, but the last person to have VPN connectivity issues pinpointed it to their router .

What hardware are you using?

It’s an issue with the VPN configuration. They are only connecting you to the remote network but not passing your packets to your companies internet.

This is something your companies it department would have to fix. It is not a GoNetspeed issue.

Sounds like a VPN configuration issue. Did you use the exact same VPN and computer before you subscribed to GNS?

Probably a VPN configuration issue. I use PrivateInternetAccess for my VM through regular computers and virtual machines and have never had connection issues. Granted, I made sure to sign up for a static IP as soon as I got the service, so I don’t know if there would be any issues through CGNAT.

Thanks for responding. The issue occurs on my Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop, Windows 11 x64 and I’m beginning to think it’s a problem with this computer. It’s a warranty replacement I’ve had for about a year.

After thinking about this sudden onset of hilarity I remembered the Dell has had some squirrely little annoyances develop over the last month or two - randomly selecting text even when my hands are nowhere near it, etc.

I’m able to connect to the internet while ExpressVPN is connected with both my Galaxy S21 5G and my Windows 11 desktop which I built a few years back.

I just updated the VPN (which I had neglected to do until this issue appeared, thinking that might correct it. That did not. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the VPN app just to make sure - no such luck.

There are no routers or other hardware between the laptop and the GNS equipment.

I don’t use a proxy server so that shouldn’t be an issue and the Windows proxy settings show nothing out of the ordinary. Also, I’ve verified it’s not a browser issue as I have checked Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, and Brave.

It might just be time to replace this thing as much as I hate to drop the cash right now.

Thanks

Perhaps but the problem didn’t start until this morning. I used it yesterday with no issues. With ExpressVPN there really is no configuration settings that apply to me. And after the update my other computere/devices connected with no issues.

I’m a little mystified. Maybe I’ll get a new laptop for my birthday LOL

Thanks again for the assist!
