Yea basically that’s the question
If you want to install adblock extensions on android chrome just like on desktop, the answer is no. it simply can’t. However, you can:
-
use browsers that can install extensions, e.g. firefox.
-
install adblock apps, such as adguard, which works like a VPN to filter your ad traffic.
I don’t think the mobile version of chrome has an adblocker, and I don’t think you can add one, but someone please do correct me if I’m wrong on that.
I tend to use the Brave on mobile, as it does a really good job at blocking ads on mobile. I did use DuckDuckGo, but that didn’t block ads as good as Brave mobile does.
I hope Chrome mobile adds adblock features.
For Android, there’s other browsers that have this, and some with extension support.
For iOS, you’re limited to either a browser with a built in adblocker, or Safari with an adblocker extension from the App Store.
on android you can use firefox - there are uBlock in extensions
I use Blokada for blocking ads on Android, works also for apps
You can add a Secure DNS Server on Chrome (Android) It’s in Privacy and Security Settings. I recommend freedns by controld, but use whatever you like.
I switched over to Firefox. It’s better on all fronts.
Google account doesn’t stay loggedin in any browser other than chrome
Chrome on mobile currently doesn’t have extension support, which is why there’s no adblocker on Chrome mobile
What are you talking about ??
Of course it does. Just tick the option that says “stay logged in”
I use Firefox on both on my android and windows 11, and it stays logged in. No problem.
Thanks for clarifying. Would be nice if they added adblock options, but with how they’ve been fighting adblock on YouTube, I doubt it would happen.
Google Chrome has their ad blocker in the site settings
i have logged into firefox on linux and winodws but doesnot stay loggedin in android
Firefox mobile can use extensions. So if you install uBlock Origin on it, you should have no worries about ads on YouTube or anywhere else…
So, it stays logged in on linux and windows, right ?? On android did you checked the box that says if you want to stay logged in ??
It logged you out when you close the browser or something else ??
Oh cool, I didn’t know that. I have firefox mobile installed too, but rarely bother to use it.
yes, there is no box that says stay logged in, and yes it gets logged out after closing the browser. even while logging in into chrome the box doesnot appear.
Brave has a Beta Version available in Store. I tested it yesterday on Youtube. Though I was not able to sign in, I was able to watch Youtube Videos WITHOUT any Ads…
Thanks, I’ll have to check that out.
