You asked for it, it’s finally here! We’re excited to share with you an improved VPN experience! To activate your account and access the new VPN, head to the Dashlane extension. You’ll find step-by-step instructions waiting for you in the web app. Interested in more information? Check out the Dashlane Blog for all the details!
I’ve tried. It’s great!
So many other password manager-y things we’d prefer you to focus on rather than making a pretty bow to stick on the package.
It would be good to have a plan where the VPN is not included. Of course it would be cheaper which would be more appealing to people!
What version of the extension supports this? I have the latest version (6.2138.5) shown on the Chrome Web Store, which says it was updated October 2. No VPN option appears in the menu.
My account was not created even after clicking the activate account button.
Do you have split tunneling yet? Is Linux supported?
Anyone know if this vpn is good enough to torrent things and be safe from being caught? I live in Germany where pirating is punished with a hefty fine.
Thank you for not disabling comments like some other developers. Classy!
Is it? For the last couple years I’ve been using private Internet access and it’s been good, but PIA’s IP addresses are all blacklisted with all the best streaming services. I got Dashlane last year and the VPN experience was so bad it was basically unusable. I gave it five or six chances. Were you using it before though update they’re talking about here? Has it improved? I imagine their IP address is are blacklisted too, but sometimes you can get away with jumping around VPN providers to use streaming services. I’m not even trying to get access to new content, I just want to stop disconnecting and reconnecting to keep the rest of my traffic protected.
So this VPN is just A partnership with HotspotShield? I don’t know anything about their company history.
Hey u/TheCitrixGuy, Dashlane offers the Essentials tier which does not include VPN. Check out the tier comparisons at Dashlane.com/plans and more information at Making the most of Dashlane Essentials.
You’re going to want version 6.2140 which is on a progressive roll out this week, you should see it soon!
Hey u/SuicidalTorrent, did you receive an error message, or did anything else happen when you attempted to activate? Thanks.
Linux is supported and concerning split tunneling you can always configure it with a script and edit your route tables on vpn launch.
I had a similar experience with the new VPN - completely unusable download speeds, couldn’t even stream spotify music.
Choose mullvad/Mozilla/ivpn!
The issue with that plan is around how many devices can be used to view the passwords! It would be good to have a plan in the middle which is the same as Premium without the VPN offering.
I activated Hotspot Shield.
The account was not created at first. After a few tries(by deleting saved VPN passwords and re-activating Hotspot Shield suggested by Dashlane Support) - although received error activating account, I was able to login to Hotspot Shield with the generated password.
However, the expires time is only 7 days. I was suggested to contact Hotspot Shield support.
From there, HS support said my account was on auto-renewal and he said the renewal should be handled by Dashlane.
I was skeptical, so I asked my colleague, who also uses Dashlane Premium, activating his account. He said the expires on his account is the same with his Dashlane Premium expires.
So what is wrong here?
Ah, got the new version today. Thanks!
