Install and configure VPN for Pop!_OS (Cosmic de)

For me, I wish that Linux distros would provide their own VPNs (and not just an outline of one, such as OpenVPN). I have been trying to do various VPN installs ranging from Proton to IPVanish and they all seem to have pain in the a$$ installation issues. For Pop!_OS, it is a nightmare minimally.

Incredibly annoying. Much easier to install a VPN for Android (Google Pixel 8 Pro) as well as a laptop, ironically. Both of my computers were constructed by System76. May be the Cosmic DE alpha is to blame. Whole process sucks.

Odd, for Windscribe I just installed the provided .deb and launched the application. Pop!_OS 24.04. Seems to install fine as well in a Pop!_OS 22 VM.

Well, cosmic is still in alpha so you’re likely to run into issues, especially when it comes to GUIs and apps/software not baked in

I’ve been using NordVPN for 5+ years and never had a problem configuring or using it, even when I was checking out cosmic. Granted, the only “setup” on my phone was logging in, it’s nice being able to control every bit I need to on my desktop and laptop; got file sharing and all.

None of what I like about Nord is exclusive to it, just found it easy compared to what I got on my server’s RDC (Debian hosting WireGuard)

Have you tried cloudflare warp? Works flawlessly for me, super easy install and free.
