Another happy Kagi paid subscriber here. I think it’s 100% reasonable to pay a small amount for something as valuable as this, especially when it’s a massive step away from Google.
Is it really that good? How does it compare to brave search?

I have just briefly tried your search engine a short while ago and I’m really impressed at the outset. Will dig deeper in due course and will offer detailed feedback as soon as practicable.
I started using brave search in firefox. It is now my default and primary search engine. I haven’t seen any crypto stuff and the AI search assist is very helpful. You don’t have to use it if you don’'t want, but I have been very pleased with it. I have been mostly looking up nutrition and hormonal studies and it has been very good at finding what I need without giving me crap I don’t. I agree about the images tho. I tried DDG and Qwant and it was just too much dreck.
Do you know any privacy shortcomings on this search engine?
DDG is just Bing and allows microsoft trackers.
For me it’s only super slow on Android, but not Windows. It’s so weird.
PFFT… seriously? Searx is the most broken thing I’ve encountered recently. After two (!) simple searches it said on BOTH occasions: “Sorry! we didn’t find any results. Please use another query or search in more categories.” The other option is “Error! Engines cannot retrieve results. duckduckgo (timeout), google (unexpected crash CAPTCHA required). Please, try again later or find another searx instance.”
As in: “what the actual hell, people?”
I hate it. It doesn’t let me use because of country of my IP. And it definitely collects some little data
They don’t verify the email address, nor it’s tied to any verified identity. You can use a randomly generated email address.
You can pay with cripto.
The email address is just a means to attach a subscription to the user.
It you pay with cripto and user a random email address or alias forwarder, there’s nothing really attaching it to you (or at least dramatically less than Google, who will know who you are from any other product you might log onto from the same browser , whether that might be maps, YouTube, mail, etc )
The same argument can be used for VPNs, and most decent ones will allow payments with cripto and won’t verify identity.
It’s the same thing 
Kagi now also has the “privacy pass” option for logging in. It uses some random token of some kind and can’t be connected back to an account (you also loose the customisation due to this)
I’ll pay, but 10€/month for searching, it’s a bit too much. I’m willing to pay something like 3,4€ for unlimited search.
Prime is 10€ per month with hundreds of millions production exclusive series and movies. It’s just not worth to pay the same price for a search engine.

I can only agree, I am also very satisfied. But I’m going to leave Kagi and go back to free alternatives like DuckDuckGo. The price is crucial.
