Had to Kill the Surfshark Extension in Chrome for Mac Because of Address Population

Been using Surfshark for years, and the extension. Suddenly though the Surfshark “S” icon is populating every address field, interfering with the ability to make changes. In other words, S.S. is being offered by the Mac as though it was a password app, like 1Password.

Really bad, guys. Make it stop.

Hey there, thank you for your feedback regarding our extension. This is happening due to our Alternative ID autofill feature. You can disable it using this guide: https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us/articles/20003652627090-How-to-use-the-Surfshark-Alternative-ID-auto-fill-function

Even so, we appreciate the feedback and will do our best to make this more user-friendly.

How about designing it so that the user actually has to turn it on, rather than off? I have never even enabled Alt ID, so why must I be saddled with its problems as a default?

As for the instructions you offered, I surely can’t figure it out. It almost looks like I have to turn Alt ID on, and then turn off form filling? Again, why make this so hard.

Thanks for the feedback, we will pass it on to the responsible team. As for turning it off, perhaps you could reach out at [email protected] or via the live chats on our site?
