GlobalProtect VPN Client is such a crappy program

I hate how the disable/enable button is hidden in the menu, before there was a big blue button.

I hate how it asks why I want to disable it.

I hate that it keeps running in the background.

I hate how when I kill the client and the service in task manager, a minute later both start up again.

I hate how I have to run a batch file with a bunch of commands to make it stop running in the background, then I have to run another batch file to make it run.

I hate how GlobalProtect VPN client is so crappy that I uninstall it when I’m done using it and reinstall it if I need to use it again.

Such a crappy user hostile program.

It’s working as configured. This isn’t a GlobalProtect Client issue.

In fairness these are all settings that your admin chose. Every single one can be changed. I’m not saying globalprotect is a great tool. It’s ok. But it’s not quite as bad as your description would imply.

I think you’re frustrated by the configuration of the client by bad implementation.

The goal of GP is to sit in the background and securely ensure access to resources. Disabling the client should be done during troubleshooting or should be configure for on-demand connections.

Otherwise, it’s set it and forget it.

To stop the blinking at least, click cancle when opening the popup, or if you change the connections often, just remove the hosts from the list so it doesnt try to connect to one

You forgot how they managed to hide the “collect logs” button.

Used to be “right click - collect logs”.

Yeah I actually just asked the Network Manager and he said these are configurable. He’s gonna look into it and relax some of the restrictions.

Also I’m a tech in the IT dept and I need to use it sometimes when I’m working from home, but obviously I don’t want it running all the time on my personal computers.

It’s best to assume ignorance or miscommunication first before malice. 9 times out of 10 it is.
