Epic browser: yay or nay?

So I was told about epic browser as a chromium alternative with built in VPN. Does anyone know about it? If so, what do you think?

Edit: for use in China. I see a lot of Epic hate, is brave better for said problem

Epic is closed source, U.S, (and India for marketing, but ops in U.S.) based. VPN is really a proxy. I would not trust it, but then, both Firefox and Brave are U.S. based. At least they are open source. If you want to go Chromium I’d use Brave. FF is considered gold standard with proper configuration and extensions, but the that requires some research/knowledge. For out of the box, Brave is pretty much ready to go.

People here are missing the point that having some distant malicious corporation tracking you is still better than the CCP showing up at your door and dragging you off for just wanting to have an unfiltered peek at the real world. Literally any solution that hides you from that regime is better than nothing.

Yay for Epic but I don’t use the proxy I prefer to use my VPN. Yay for brave too, I use both with windows.
For the phone duckduckgo works for me.

Literally the worst browser malicious garbage ever created. Spies on EVERYTHING.

Even Chrome is better in every possible way.

Epic doesn’t sell user data or is connected to “corporate overlords” like Chrome and Mozilla.

I use epic in China. Is brave better for getting past the firewall

  • It’s a proprietary. We can’t check the source code so we can’t guarantee it’s safe or not. There shouldn’t be any need to investigate this further. Developers have said for many years that they are opening the source code, but it has not happened yet.

  • Epic Spyware includes its own FREE proxy which is located in the U.S. And they claim that this can completely protect you from the NSA. At this point I lost all the hope, what was left.

  • There is no information about how they handle finances. The answer is they are collecting and selling your personal information. There is no other way they can keep up.

  • Epic Spyware integrated into Firefox without user’s consent. Spying on Epic users was not enough, so they extended it to other browsers.

  • The browser probably is extremely insecure. Why? There is no update changelog available. How can we know that Epic Spyware is up to date? Are the latest security patches? How is it maintained?

  • Epic Spyware connects to several Google IPs. It’s not de-googled. That’s a completely false information. In addition, they showed ads inside the browser.

The whole browser is just a joke. They are just using marketing tricks to restrict their users and collect your personal data to sell it while pretending to “believe in privacy”. They literally went from marketing platform to “NSA proof” (which is bullshit) browser in couple months. Please keep your hands off this spyware.

So how do they then deal with government requests? How secure are their proxy servers? So how do they manage Chromium? Do they remove all google related stuff like that of Ungoogled-Chromium project? I wouldn’t trust Epic Browser!

Its not really a ‘privacy’ browser and is ‘misrepresented’ by its creators (Hidden Reflex) to take advantage of ‘privacy’ paranoia so as to get as many to install it as possible so they can make a buck from the personal privacy information they collect from the users of the Epic browser.

Reasons Not to Use Epic Privacy Browser

TL;DR: Epic developers cannot professionally handle the project and they collect your data more than any other browser on the market. Also, the browser is insecure and controls the user. Developers make false statements, uses fear as marketing, and lies in their forums. Developer said that criticizing the browser is illegal. I hope I will not be in jail tomorrow after this comment.

(So, the whole project is a fucking big joke.)
