Cosmic + VPN Connection

Hello :waving_hand:

I hope you are all doing well.

I fully understand that the DE is still under development. I just want to know if I’m missing something.

I have a VPN connection (configured and working in GNOME) to connect to my company’s server/cloud, but I’m not finding how/where to establish the connection in Cosmic. Am I missing something or it’s not possible yet?

Cosmic it’s looking great and beautiful I can’t wait for the final version. Great work

Advanced Network Configuration app

Hi u/mmstick

I hope you can help me.

I have installed openconnect and network-manager-openconnect and now I can see the vpn (service) that I need to configure but…

Usually on gnome (or KDE) I just have to give a name to the connection and paste the vpn url. After that I just connect and I’m asked for the username and password (and I have the option to save).

But im having a really hard time to configure this in “advanced network manager”.
Where can I add the vpn url!?

Can you help me?

Thank you so much for your reply u/mmstick

I’m not sure I understood the answer. I’m sorry!
Can you be more specific?

Do I need to install something like the Network Manager Openconnect package, for example?
I assume it was already installed since I was able to configure it in gnome.

I’m feeling like a noob

openconnect instead of openvpn?

If you search `network` in the launcher, the `Advanced Network Configuration` application should be the top result. In here, there is a + icon button at the bottom left of the application window, with VPNs as an available connection option.

Since I’m trying to connect to Palo Alto Global Protect I always thought I’d have to use openconnect… :o
Anyway I’ve open the openVPN configuration gui.
I have entered the gateway and changed the certificate to password with TLS… everything looks good (like I was used before) but, I can’t save. The button it’s always light grey.
Do you know why?

Btw… Thank you very much for you help!

Yes! That’s what I usually need to install to connect to global protect.

Thank you very much! :folded_hands:
