In my parents’ house I have my PlayStation 5 and my PC, connected to a Fritzbox router with an FTTH connection. To connect from my house to my parents’ house, I installed WireGuard VPN on the Frtizbox router. I am now using RDP from my computer at my house to connect to the PC I have at my parents’ house. Remote Play of PS5 also works smoothly from my house by connecting with the VPN.
The only problem is that my Moonlight client cannot see the PC (with GeForce Experience installed) through VPN. On my parents’ local network it works without any problems. But from my house, I cannot locate the PC.
Does the network in your parents house use the same subnet as your own home? 192.168.0.X etc.
I’ve had a problem like this before. I use a small Gli.Net travel router and had to set up a route to solve this issue (home and away networks using the same subnet). I can’t help you more than that unfortunately - just because I don’t know your hardware.
Besides that, I’ve found it’s a good idea to setup the devices at home before taking them out. I’m assuming you did the same. I think you have to do that actually (because you have to type the code into your pc). But if not, maybe make sure everything works in your local network before taking things remote.
I have the same setup and the same problem. For whatever reason moonlight can’t see it on the network and the only way to use the fritzbox wireguard vpn is to manually enter the ip address in the moonlight client.
In my parent’s house the subnet is 192.168.176.X and in my home is 192.168.1.X.
I’ve already configured the connection between Moonlight client and my PC at my partent’s home, where the connection works perfectly. Moving to my home, I can’t reconnect to the same PC, even if it’s already paired
Just to be sure, you opened the port appropriate to the Wireguard connection on the router? I’m not familiar with FritzBoxes so I have no idea what that process looks like.
Yes. Like I said before, I’m using WireGuard VPN to connect to my PC and use Remote Desktop and even to my PS5 to play with Remote Play. So I think that WireGuard works well
