About two and a half months ago I got a coupon from /r/VPNCoupons for a $0.01 month from IPVanish, I used it and inmediatly cancelled my suscription so they dont charge me again next month.
Big surprise comes today when I stumple upon a payment receipt from Paypal stating a 10USD payment for IPVanish.
I’m not happy about this and I dont know what to do. I dont think they will refund me, and I dont even remember my ID so I cant log in and cancel my suscription again, and if I do I dont know if they will charge me again in the future. Any advice would be welcome,
They can’t take payment if you cancelled it with Paypal. I assume you cancelled it with IPVanish and not Paypal? Do you have an email confirming the cancellation?
This is one of the reasons I don’t like setting up Paypal subscriptions for things.
Get onto Paypal customer support, they’ll get your money back.
I got a random invoice the other day from them. In 2012 they were included with EasyNews as part of a service, as a beta service that EasyNews was providing.
I’ve never actually used IPVanish directly.
Last week I received an invoice from them directly, they appear to have my details from the EasyNews account, but no payment details. (I had to reset credentials to log into the account and see invoices.)
I’ll bet there are a ton of other folks that are about to get this same fake service charge and invoice attempt.
I’ve reached out to support. Fingers crossed I don’t have to take them to court, or deal with them trying to send to collections, for something I never ever signed up for.
Thanks, already contacted them but seems like im not getting a refund. They are treating me like i forgot to cancel the suscription, which i did not, i keep track of everything that’s time-sensitive.
Im not doing business with them ever again. Im going back to my old vpn provider.
I went to the IPVanish site and cancelled the suscription, i never thought of going directly at paypal. I sent IPVanish an email, if they dont solve the problem im filing a complain with paypal. Thanks for the advice.
Why? This is your own fault. I dealt with this all the time with subscribers when I ran a company. They’d always accuse me of stealing their money but their PayPal account was set up to autopay. Maybe they’ll be nice and refund your money but they have no obligation to do so.
I never set up autopay with paypal, i went only through their website, which stated that if i wished the suscription will be terminated as soon as a month passes and it will not be renewed.
