A lack of non-14-eyes country servers

Right now, the Iceland, Switzerland, Japan and Singapore servers are the only non-14-eyes countries available in the server list. I think this could be remedied with the addition of at least some of these countries:

  • Finland
  • The Baltic countries
  • Hungary
  • Czech Republic
  • Slovakia
  • Poland

Obviously no country is perfect and some of those countries, just like the already-available Switzerland and Iceland, still have cooperation with the 14-eyes countries on periphery issues like preventing computer crimes, or have questionable data retention laws, but for me the threshold for inclusion is them not being part of the 14-Eyes.

Adding Finland does not sound like a bad idea, not sure about the other countries, I don’t think I like the idea of routing my packets through Eastern Europe.

There’s currently a drive in the European Union to increase the bloc’s common military and intelligence capabilities, in no small part due to Brexit and a US perceived as being unreliable. It would therefore not be unlikely for all the aforementioned suggested countries to find themselves in an unfavourable position privacy-wise in the medium to long-term future
