Hey, so I was watching videos on my computer just fine the whole day, but suddenly all videos stop loading after a minute? I cleared my caches and my cookies, restarted my browser but nothing really worked. The only thing that did work is when I signed out of my account, the videos played normally. When I logged back in, thats when the problems started again. I don’t think its my connection, so what else could it be? I normally have my VPN and my adblock running, if that adds more context to this.
I have the same issue. Without VPN it works fine though, so it seems to be caused by it.
Same here. Get about a minute and a half into a video and it stops buffering. Regardless of browser. When I open a private window, with all the same browser extensions active, it buffers fine. So it appears being logged in causes it, which is odd.
Ohhh so if happening to you guys too? I thought it was my shitty internet connection. Sometimes the video doesn’t load and sometimes after 1 minute or minute in half the video stop to buffer.
Same Firefox and unlock origin
Also having this problem, have Firefox, uBlock Origin, and NoScript. Resetting uBlock Origin did not fix it, restarting Firefox did not fix it. I’m wondering if this is their new ‘attack’ against uBlock or Firefox users.
I’ve been having this on livestreams for the past few weeks, first time today I’ve seen this on regular videos.
Can seem to get to work by a mix of swapping browsers/disabling VPN/logging out, but very annoying.
Same issue for me. Resolved it by turning off the VPN. I left uBlock & Ghostery still running and had no issues.
VPN seems to be the problem for some reason. It was happening with both my VPN Firefox extension and the windows app itself.
Same thing happening to my account, all videos freeze and buffer endlessly at exactly 1 min.
It’s definitely some issue with the account because as soon as I switch to an alt channel or account videos play perfectly fine. Don’t even have to turn off any blockers, extensions or my VPN.
It’s a pain but you can use your main account to open a video from your usual recommended feed or playlists or whatever and then switch account from the account menu. The account will change and the page will refresh but you’ll still be on the same video so it should then just play properly.
I seem to have solved this on my machine by enabling jnn-pa.googleapis.com in no-script. I can turn it back off and the problem comes back. My symptoms are the same - video stops at 1 minute, won’t load at any point after 1 minute, and works fine in incognito. no-script doesn’t seem to be enabled in incognito, though. If I enable no-script and block jnn-pa.googleapis.com then I can also reproduce the issue in an incognito window. This might not the same issue others are seeing, but hopefully this helps someone.
I have the same issue.
im convinced youtube deliberaly makes the page bug sometimes so you will need to refresh and watch more ads
Youtube servers can’t keep up
As well as recommended videos not loading after 20 of them
It sounds like the issue might be related to your account settings, ad blocker, or VPN. Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot this:
1. Ad Blocker or VPN Conflict
- Ad Blocker: Some platforms (e.g., YouTube or certain streaming sites) can detect ad blockers and restrict functionality, especially when logged in. Try disabling your ad blocker temporarily and see if the issue persists.
- VPN: Some websites limit or restrict access when using a VPN, especially with certain server locations. Switch to a different server on your VPN or disconnect it temporarily to test.
2. Account Settings or Restrictions
- If videos work when you’re signed out, something specific to your account might be causing the problem. Check for:
- Parental controls or restrictions (if enabled by mistake).
- Playback settings (like video quality) that could be affecting load times.
- Region-based restrictions when using a VPN.
3. Browser Extensions or Third-Party Tools
- Certain extensions (like privacy blockers or scripts) can interfere with video playback. Try disabling all extensions except the essentials (VPN, ad blocker) and test.
- If this resolves the issue, enable extensions one by one to find the culprit.
4. Cookies and Data
- Since clearing cookies didn’t work, ensure you’re also clearing site-specific data. For example, go into your browser’s settings, find the specific site causing issues, and delete stored data for it.
5. Alternative Browsers
- Test playback in a different browser while logged into your account. If it works fine, the problem might lie in your primary browser configuration.
6. Account-Specific Bugs
- If nothing works, consider:
- Logging into your account on a different device to see if the problem persists.
- Contacting the platform’s support team, as it might be a bug tied to your account.
It will likely be one of their adblock blocker updates, use incognito until it’s fixed
SOMEONE FINALLY GOT IT, this keeps happening to me on my tab and laptop. I’m real fucking tired of this.
might be youtube trying to fight adblockers again
Same things been happening to me on my end but only while I’m loggedd in on a laptop, on phones my TV works completely fine. I spent all of yesterday try to figure it out with a friend nothing helps no deleting any data no change in my settings has fixed anything. vpns work apparently but they bottleneck my internet too much to be useful compared to just putting something on the TV.
I’ve been almost a week on this and stuck at 59 seconds exactly so yeah I don’t know log out while you’re watching if you’re comfortable with that
Youtube is against adblockers so they try to block them, try use ublock origin with firefox. Maybe can also be the VPN, but im not sure
