It looks like YouTube has launched another wave of cancellations aimed at cracking down on VPN-based subscriptions. This started back in July and since then, users have been experiencing periodic waves of cancellations. A lot of users are reporting that their discounted Premium subscriptions, which they signed up for using a VPN in other countries, are being cancelled.
If you’ve got a subscription through a VPN (e.g., from a country with cheaper rates), it’s a good idea to check your emails.
Just got the email today. Managed to sign up again using surfshark free trial and Peru, £6.50, which is a lot more than the £2.50 I was paying via Ukraine, but definitely less than the £20 they want for ad-free family plan
Only reason I had YouTube premium was the ads, now with the price increase I am moving away from subscription and I’m going to set up paspberry pi with pihole ad blocking dns service, I’m just tired of all the bs.
Yep, got mine yesterday. I signed up for Turkish Youtube premium. Now they want me to resign up. But not gonna do it. 25$ a month simply too much for me. Was thinking about cutting some costs anyway. Less youtube for me from now on I guess. So be it. What companies don’t understand is those little tricks and nits are also driving force for their venue. Erasing them is a big mistake. They should have keep ignoring.
No mail for me yet, still rocking my Microsoft Tech Support country account and i just agreed to their new pricings without vpn, i wouldn’t mind paying 10$, even 15$ for premium, but at 25+ they lost me
Yep, just received my email about having to have a Ukraine payment card. I mean i’m hungarian, so it’s only 6 euros instead of 2.2 euros, but it’s still 272% of what I’m currently paying for the single subscription. Family would be 12 euros
I payed for nord vpn and surf shark
Peru chile Romania all showed me “we couldn’t verify your country”
So I tried Kazakhstan and it finally worked for me… it hurts a little to pay around 10€ per months instead of 4-5€ but it’s way better than pay 23€ per months… wtf actually… for no ads to let the consumer pay over 20€
