Why is my VPN trying to download the 64 bit windows download into the x86 program files?

I thought I made a mistake, but it seems that I did not: -VPN’s default file download location is in the Program Files (x86). This is for 32 bit programs, not 64 bit right?

I at first redirected it to the regular 64 bit program files (even made a fresh folder for it!) and it started up fine, but wouldn’t work with Firefox. Dunno if they’re connected, but it definitely isn’t browsing when I switch it on.

I uninstalled it using the basic windows uninstaller (wish I hadn’t) and then went through to delete all the stray files including the wireguard logs and TAP drivers. (I now have Revo Uninstaller so it’s easier next time)

But anyway, making TRIPLE sure I clicked the 64 bit one this time it still has the default directory set as x86. What’s the deal?

If the installer is 32-bit then Windows redirects Program Files to “Program Files (x86)” automatically. This doesn’t mean the installed program is 32-bit or 64-bit, it could be either.

Well, Revo Uninstaller says it’s 32-bit for whatever reason, but maybe that’s because of where it’s located. Either way I guess it’s not causing the problems I’m having with it.

Run the application .exe then see in task manager if it reports 32-bit or 64-bit. The column may not be visible so you’d need to enable it. Shouldnt be causing any problems though.
