Why does my Internet habitually become slow at the same time of the day?

23mb down should be plenty fast for the vast majority of use cases (sans 4k straming).

See, thats what really added to my frustration. Netflix and Hulu are just refusing to play along so I test my internet connection via the Network options in the PS4 and the PS4 says “everythings fine! 89 percent signal strength! And the speed isn’t terrible either!”

I’m certainly saving your comment for future test purposes. In your best opinion, how long and how often should I administer the tests?

Try ethernet over power. No long cable run needed. Not perfect, but better than wifi.

Edit: I use this for my roku since my bedroom is on the opposite side of my house from the router. Never have any issues, whereas wifi would cut out all the time.

I’d do it for a solid hour and see what you’re getting. Sounds like packet loss the more detail I hear.

I’m going to keep that idea in my back pocket, i’m not sure my landlord will allow me access to the actual router itself. He has it placed…actually i think in our basement which is also not a good thing as im sure the signal doesn’t easily get to everywhere in the building.

Should I run this test via WiFi in various spots of my house as well?

If you were going to be able to run a cable to the ps4, then why not this? You just use a very short cable to an outlet where the adapter is, plug the second adapter in where the ps4 is and then run another short cable for that. Nothing to do with the router except plugging in that single ethernet cable

I would suggest it. That way you can determine if theres a trouble area, might also narrow down what’s causing the interference

Something like this

I can’t get to where the router is, it is in our basement and our basement is divided into a common area for laundry and a tool/supplies area behind a locked gate. That’s where the router is.

I should have rephrased it I’m actually pursuing this right now, I asked my landlord if I could get in there one of these days. Just the method I use is contingent upon his answer. I’m going to be looking into this way first.
