What are you doing that serves 1TB/mo for free? Images and videos cost money, R2 costs money…
Which DNS service do you suggest where the provider does not track user activities?
Cloudflare is doing awesome as a company and their share price continues to go up. They can use the capital the markets are giving them to grow and become a big player in Internet infrastructure. Cloudflare is a great company and very necessary in the current market environment with the big titans of tech controlling a lot of the Internet. It is nice to have another company competing with the big titans of tech for our Internet dollars. I don’t want only trillion dollar companies to control the Internet.
There is plenty of money out there for Cloudflare to capture, that is for sure.
it is since i think like 2022 tho, they changed it
Sure but neither are all the other services that advertise themselves as VPNs ie Surfshark, Proton, Mullad.
they get to use your traffic data at scale to learn about internet traffic patterns and design products around it to sell to enterprise
I’d bet workers/pages, the free plan is pretty generous.
you can cache them, I have a site with less then 10gb of r2 storage and most files there are smaller then 100mb so they get cached and don’t count towards the limit.
Even then, the limit is on millions of operations so 1 million *500mb for example is 500tb, which is in the free plan limits
you don’t pay for egress, just operations
Hosting a website for an open source application: Cloudflare serves the installer file mostly from cache, and that’s most of the site traffic
Quad 9, but what you should be doing is running Unbound + PiHole (recursive DNS).
Awesome optimism. I was reading their latest filing. I was shocked but it took a minute to realize you can look good on the outside but be drowning on the inside.
Cloudflare is so amazing. So incredibly gifted. Yes, of course AWS and Azure have changed the course of technology but their is something unique about Cloudflare. Almost like they bring artwork to the cloud.
Maybe all giants struggled at some point too. I have a ton of belief in them. And I hope, like you said, investors see their unique creativity.
Show me a link that technically explains that. It’s not.
That’s simply not true.
CF does have a ton of bandwidth available, but they also have a very diffuse network, they’re in basically every IXP so they can mitigate the DDOS at their edge before all the traffic would have crushed down and congested a link.
They also provide services to gangs behind the DDoS attacks. It’s good for business. The free 1.1.1.1 DNS appeared about at the same time as there was talk about using DNS to protect people from Cloudflare. Their fake stores, phishing, and C&C domain names follow a registration pattern that machines can recognize.
Still a terabyte though, that’s 500 thousand visitors at 2MB each

This earnings report looks pretty good and revenue is growing big time. It seems the company is investing in growth over reporting profits and that has worked well for a lot of companies including the tech titans. Amazon lost money for a decade before the investments paid off particularly with AWS.
Investors are definitely helping Cloudflare to grow. The shares are up 500% in the last 5 years. The future is bright for Cloudflare and I use them for my DNS because it makes my fiber connection much better. I would definitely pay for a premium VPN service from Cloudflare if they allowed people to choose the servers for the connection.
Right now with WARP I connect to their fast local servers and websites load very fast compared to my ISP DNS.

NSA has entered the Chat, Cloudflare is not going anywhere, Cloudflare is considered a national asset at this point and will be protected under any circumstance.
