One of the main reasons to use a VPN is to prevent your data from being intercepted by bad actors. I want to use my Quicken across a VPN but Quicken seems to just hang when I load it. I get the Quicken app showing a white screen and a never-ending circular wait cursor. I finally have to kill it via task manager.
VPN providers are at high risk of getting blacklisted from various things, not just Quicken but direct connect to banks as well. Many companies use centralized blacklists so it may not even be Quicken specifically blocking you, but they may be pulling their blacklist from Akamai or one of the other providers.
VPNs get used for a lot of malicious purposes, including hacking banks. You can try another VPN provider, but there is always a chance that any of them will get blocked. Generally speaking, the bigger name paid VPNs will usually be better, but none of them are immune.
Probably just easier to put an exception in your VPN to let Quicken bypass it, everything quicken transmits is encrypted anyway.
The only time I’ve had that happen is when I’ve forgotten to disconnect from my work’s VPN but that’s because my work’s VPN blocks most external connections. Quicken works fine with every commercial VPN I’ve tried.
I use PIA and never had any issues connecting to Quicken
Depends upon the VPN service I imagine, I have no issue. I do have an issue with some banks tho, they dont like VPN either, which is ironic considering you are just wanting to protect your data.
I always use a VPN and don’t have a problem in general. However, I have found that very rarely after a major product upgrade, I had to stop the VPN in order to get the initial Quicken login to work, then could turn the VPN back on. After that, it was fine for months until something else they tweaked in the upgrade triggered this again.
In short, try disabling your VPN just for the initial startup, then turn it back on once the Quicken login completes.
I have surfshark and it hangs like OP’s
It must have been a glitch but now my VPN is working with Quicken again. Problem solved.
Nord works fine with Quicken.
