Just out of curiosity. Both are teribble antiviruses, but I’ve never used Norton before. Which one takes the crown of the worst Antivirus?
Norton can detect things, my pc came with norton preinstalled, its alright i guess, its not the best av but its alright, could be much much better but if it comes with the device its alright,
If my device comes with mcafee im uninstalling that shit asap
Both are pretty bad products, I would choose Norton over McAfee but personally wouldn’t recommend either, there are better products out there such as Kaspersky, Eset, Bitdefender Sophos
I guess no one has read about the US government warning people about Kaspersky and its ties to Russia. Don’t not use or download this software. Please google Kaspersky Antivirus and its ties to Russia. It"s shocking to say the least.
for me McAfee because long time ago I use to use Norton every time I get viruses in my pc I have to reboot reinstall my drivers all over two time a year but since I started with MCAfee almost 15 years I dont have that problem
McAfee is probably the worst antivirus in my opinion. I got adware on my computer from it claiming my pc was infected with 5 viruses when I had a clean machine. Please do not use McAfee ever
McAfee all the way for me, hands down the worst.
My newest laptop came with McAfee. Not only did it not work, but I also was not able to uninstall it by normal means which the common user would use. My dad always installed Norton in my older laptops and it worked most of the time. So if I had to choose, i’d pick Norton.
McAfee
Norton really isnt TOO bad tbh but I like switching things up
Ive tried just above all of them.
My newest adventure is RogueKiller on one PC and Hitman Pro Alert on another
Norton. It just doesn’t detect. I went from Norton > Mcafee (that was better) to Kaspersky which works perfect for many years and doesn’t slow down my laptop
Yeah, I use Kaspersky. Eset has been doing badly with ransomware tests recently so personally I would recommend Kaspersky as 1, f-secure as 2 and Windows Defender as 3.
How do you rate Hitman Pro Alert?
It’s malware protection is fantastic but it doesn’t seem like a solid product to run by its self for Virus protection, I’d definitely run it alongside a main AV also
I wouldn’t recommend Avast to anyone after they were caught out selling their user’s data and information Avast selling off your user data | Information Age | ACS
I was always Kaspersky or Eset but sadly Eset seems to be slihtly overrated, maybe it’s not true but my observations. Bitfefender is also good
F-Secure switched from Bitdefender engines a few years ago and uses Avira now in addition to their own technology.
Hitman Pro Alert is pretty solid - it has a lot of nice features, One I think I like the most is that it has keyboard encryption (sometimes I will go into the search bar and start typing, and it will be just scrambled text - so it is very MINORLY glitchy), I like that it will show that every time you open an app that it is being protected. It has a lot of really good features to be honest.
My Bitdefender subscription was running out so I had it paired with Bitdefender for a little bit and it was probably the best protection I have had to date. They did not touch each other in terms of interfering with each other running side by side. I do question what bitdefender and rogue killer what have been like but I currently have that paired with Norton as Norton is running out.
In terms of mobile features, the bitdefender can be a little buggy but the remote lock feature and alarm is good as well as finding your device - however sometimes it does not send the command - Kaspersky excels greatly here over bitdefender.
bitdefender is also pretty heavy on resources so it was kind of draining - and i have 64gb ram. Hitman pro alert was pretty light.
A few things I would love to try is Kaspersky and Hitman pro or Rogue Alert (however I think they would interfere with Kaspersky - it seems Kaspersky wants to be solo) But really is ESET and hitman pro/rogue alert. I believe Sopho’s Home comes with Hitman Pro Alert so by me saying Hitman Pro Alert is pretty solid - I have never tried Sophos Home (That is another one I need to try SOLO). I have also rocked the regular Hitman Pro on demand (doesnt catch in real time) and I would just set scheduled scans - this is a good tool for about half the price but I would not recommend it unless you have something like Kaspersky or Bitdefender. IDK man I like hitman pro alert. I would tend to agree with you that its not to be run alone, which is why it is part of sophos home. But IDK if I would trust my computer with Sophos Home running SOLO, therefore you would have to pair it with bitdefender or kaspersky, and most likely Bitdefender. But then again it would rock really good with ESET.
Yep, I just remembered that! I’ll edit my comment!
I had no idea about this and couldn’t find anything about it online strangely.
I ran the 30 day trial of hitman pro alert along side Kaspersky and they were fine together, I dropped HMPO though due to it blocking files i needed to run and there was no meaningful way to add the files to HMPOs exclusions.
I gave bitdefender a try 2 weeks ago and it indeed is too resource heavy, 15 windows processes + 550mb of ram at idle is far too excessive, they claim bitdefender is extremely light on resources on their website but it is far from it.
I generally go Kaspersky, Eset, Bitdefender, Sophos.
Kaspersky arguably offers the best protection across the board, Eset does offer pretty good protection for the most part whilst having the least system impact, Bitdefender is up there with Kaspersky but has inferior ransomware protection and is pretty bad in terms of system recourse consumption 15 active windows processes + over 550mb of ram usage definitely not light weight on resources like they claim on their website, Sophos I haven’t personally used but it charts well in independent testing.
