When will be the stealth protocol available on Windows?

Stealth is based on WireGuard. Our Windows WireGuard implementation is currently based on WireGuard NT, a Windows kernel-based implementation that is optimized for performance but is different from the Android and iOS/macOS implementation which is based on WireGuard-go. Since we have implemented Stealth as a response to the ramp up in censorship first in Russia and then in Iran, we decided to prioritize mobile devices first as these are the platforms that are most used in these censored countries. As part of our continuous R&D, we are presently working on an improvement of our WireGuard/Stealth setup that will allow us to bring the same quality and support across all the platforms, thus including Windows and Linux.

This question is frequently asked here. We don’t have any ETAs besides the ones on the roadmaps. It’s being developed, please be patient, it will be announced here and in all Proton’s social networks.

Stealth, on Windows, is that an oxymoron?

Lol! Joking of course but dude, get in line. Linux still doesn’t have WireGuard, something built into the Kernel mind you. That being said, less issues and OpenVPN protocols.

Im from Iran and i bought an annual plan just for Stealth on Windows

But after 4 months there is no news about it
I hope you bring it sooner

u/ProtonVPN It has been more than a year since this post. What are you hearing/seeing about the status of the work needed to bring Stealth to the Windows client?

can you at least bring back ikev2 to windows (instead of using configs) ? since it’s not blocked and all other protocols are blocked in my network

  1. Install ProtonVPN on your phone
  2. Activate Stealth-Protocol & connect to a server
  3. Connect the phone to your PC via USB-Cable
  4. Go into your phones settings and activate “USB-Tethering”
  5. Make sure your PC uses your phone to connect to the internet
  6. You can now use Stealth on PC

If your phone somehow doesn’t have this function you can use an App like “PdaNet+” (Android) to do this.
