What was your preferred browser before Opera (if it’s your primary)?

I mainly use chrome now but am considering switching for a few reasons. Curious to hear which browsers you all used before.

Chrome. I tried Fire Fox and Edge as well before finally settling on Opera but they didn’t seem to have as much browser add-on support as I would have liked. Opera to me is as good a browser as I can hope for, has the same Chromium base as Chrome does but way less restrictions than Google places on their browser

I went from Chrome to Opera, when I was younger and then Edge to Opera about 3 months ago. I do love Opera, it’s a really good browser.

Firefox. It was 2004 when I first switched to Opera.

I use Firefox used to use opera but I switched don’t regret it

To be serious I don’t remember. It was so many years ago, even before Chrome era. I never liked Firefox so it had to be IE.

Firefox and Chrome, but Firefox was never stable for me, Chrome I just don’t like because of Google so I changed to OperaGx for the personalization. I always keep Brave installed because it’s probably the most stable experience I ever had with a browser, I’m still using Gx as my main but keep standard Opera on my Fedora, for now at least.

Recently made the swap to Opera from Edge, maybe a month ago. I really dig the aesthetic and the sidebar. I LOVE the built in VPN.

I have a lot of trouble on YouTube with Opera, and it’s a bit of a deal breaker. Ad blockers don’t work (don’t think that’s Opera’s fault), but instead when active, the video takes roughly ~30 seconds to start, and I’m talking about start the ad. When the videos finally do start they don’t buffer fast enough for playback, so the video has to pause pretty consistently. I’ve tried the recommended settings when googling it, but no luck! Some websites also load unbearably slow compared to when I was on Edge.

I spent a long time getting the browser setup, getting my logins imported, etc, so I’m committed to going with it for at least a year. But for my use case, it hasn’t been has good as Edge. Edge’s “home page” is an ugly splattering of news, but it was lightning fast for me. Felt like Chrome without any weight. Will continue to try and fix Opera because it looks and feels great, just struggling with the few roadblocks ice encountered so far. Open to suggestions if anyone has!

Firefox. Considering going back to Firefox as I am getting sick and tired of private tabs in Opera closing every time I open another app on the Android phone or charge the phone.
