Webinstaller Installs Zero Trust Fabric Agent Version

Hello

I have an issue when installing the FortiClient VPN only from Product Downloads | Fortinet Product Downloads | Support

The latest version on there is Forticlient 7.2 The web installer that I downloaded from the Forticlient VPN only link proceeds to download and install the Zero Trust Fabric Agnt version which is not working in our organisation. Some clients have updated to this version too.

Before this begins to grind remote working to a halt for everybody, is there a location to download the VPN only version from? A colleague is still using VPN only 7.0.10.0538 and is working just fine.

Thanks

You can download an offline installer from the support portal.

Have you checked if FortiClient 7.2.4 is compatible with the Gate’s FortiOS version?

I just tried an install using the web installer from the link you provided on a clean VM. It installed FortiClient VPN, 7.2.4.0972, not the full licensed version…

…and what’s the cost going to be to get IT to help remote users uninstall and reinstall the app now, and possibly a day of zero production when everyone suddenly stops working remotely, compared to the subscription of EMS for all that centrally managed goodness? Not to mention the ZTNA tags in FortiOS, as well as off-net web filtering… sounds like someone may have just justified having the right tool for the job.

At no point do you mention the actual issue you’re having. Look into the formal EMS product rather. ZTNA/VPN SKU.

That’s what I did, and 7.2.4 is not working for us either. I also noticed the name changed to FortiClient- Zero trust fabric agent that’s just in the window title. The app is still the normal FortiClient VPN.

Thanks for the tip!
I finally found the offline installer for 7.2.4 at
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/forticlient/7.2.4/windows-release-notes/503596/installation-information

(Zero Trust Fabric Agent v7.4 is not connecting to my client’s VPN, so I’d like to try v7.2.)

I have that and I’m getting the same result.

Login to the support portal, go to the downloads, pick FortiClient and navigate to whatever version you need.

I’ve rolled back to 7.2.2 and that version works at least.
