I’m going to China in a few days and I a need VPN like zerotier. From what I heard Zerotier doesn’t work in China so is there an alternative way to connect with my friends outside of China. I used to host Minecraft server on zerotier.
None of these will work. Only working VPN for China at the moment is roll your own Shadowsocks server or pay for Astrill. If you are only there for a few days, I would sign up for your international data roaming scheme with your mobile phone service provider, as foreign SIM card traffic is unblocked. You can tether off of that.
AstroVPN may be able to help you in this case, I suggest giving it a try.
That depends. ZeroTier has servers deployed in China and everything works very very quickly if they’re all in China. Everything else can be picked up instantly as VPN traffic and will be blocked almost immediately.
Better off getting a Chinese VPN that uses V2Ray/SS and then using that as the ingress to another commercial VPN if you’re concerned about a honey pot. Otherwise, roll your own Shadowsocks server.
The easiest thing to do since you’re there for only a few days is to get roaming or use cmlink’s esim or some other esim provider. Traffic is routed to the Hong Kong servers afaik so speeds are fantastic with 5G and ping is about 0.2s to 0.3s which to me is good enough.

Would you recommend this over Astrill?
To anyone googling this, I would absolutely rec it over astrill. It can only support 2 devices though but it still ended up being more consistent and cheaper even with 2 subs for me and my wifes phone + 2 computers. Astrill at least for me disconnects after a while and you have to reconnect it by turning it off in the background on the phone which got really annoying. Also with LetsVPN the best way is to get multiple months or a year of sub then convert it to premium by buying a week. It seems to make the entire duration premium.
