VPN when gaming?

I am trying out this VPN for my gaming PC (new to VPN). Right now i am trying out NordVPN. I am wondering if I should turn it off when gaming or leave it on. Also if you think i should get a different VPN or buy the NordVPN

Just try and find out. I game on mine every now and then. Bumps my ping from 22-23ms to 30-35ms. Still perfectly tolerable in my situation.

I’d say go with Nord, it’s a provider that has the most servers at the moment and it’s important for gaming. I think it also now has a discount, suggest checking /r/vpncoupons/

Nord is a great VPN but there is no need to use a VPN while gaming. If you are wanting to increase your Internet Speeds for free while keeping you safe and secure. Look into changing your DNS. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up. Google “how do i change my DNS”

VPNs will generally increase your latency when gaming, although there are some situations where, if the VPN has hubs in both your city and the city of the server you’re connecting to, it may reduce, or barely impact latency at all.

My first time using a VPN I had it on while playing R6S and lagged like holy hell. It wasn’t before two games that I finally realized I was lagging because Ubisoft’s location detection system had automatically connected me to Swiss servers rather than US.

Nord is one of best VPN’s out there with a wide selection of servers types to connect to. Use the closest server to you to get the best latency.

I’ll disable nord if I’m playing csgo with my easy/west coast buddies since it’ll try to get a server on the coast (I’m in central), but when I solo queue it doesn’t make more than a 5-10 ms ping difference. Depends entirely on what kind of game you’re playing too. If you go onto runescape or Minecraft to mess around for a bit you’re not going to notice any small ping differences.

Leave it on. Doesn’t effect latency that much and always a good idea.

Google DNS, is fast but who knows if google is tracking your internet? 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Cloudfire DNS, fastest DNS ive used and the most secure. Made my internet go from 100Mbps download to 180Mbps download. 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
