I have a work laptop, and whenever I need to install a program, I have to call IT. They remotely control it as administrators and enter the password to grant permissions.
So, how can I set up a VPN from the US on my computer?
Methods I’ve tried:
1. Installing a VPN on my iPhone and sharing the connection.
(Speedtest on the iPhone shows it’s in the US, but the computer detects it without the VPN.)
2. Using a Microsoft computer with VPN and sharing Wi-Fi. It still detects the Wi-Fi without the VPN.
If you have access to the Chrome, Firefox or Edge browser you can try a VPN service that offers a browser extension. In many cases browser extensions are not restricted by corporate IT. 12VPX and ProtonVPN have one that I know of.
Some companies still rely on old-fashion network drives/physical file servers though, you know those that allow you to access files on a network before cloud storage became a thing. In such a case the browser extension would be useless.
My company has a VPN that can only be accessed through a us ip. Is not that they have a monitoring software.
I need that vpn to access to the drive and use files from there.
I just need a VPN to access their VPN.
I didn’t know that it was that risky
