Guys, do you like to have VPN service less than ₹100/month rupee a month ( little more than a dollar internationally) with added features like:-
Allow users to set custom DNS, split-tunneling, transparency privacy, multi-hop connection, best ping (hosted at edge), global edge server, low traffic CDN caching (recent Netflix case),
Countries like India which have log policy - coustomers have already notified about this save logs policy in the app if they like to use indian/log save policy country servers.
Should I invest my effort in this project or the VPN market is too much saturated?
Windscribe has all of that, and the cheapest they can offer per month is $3 by limiting to two country option, otherwise their cost is similar to other providers. I doubt you can sustain such service with only $1 monthly unless you also limit the available countries to those with cheap data center costs.
I personally never pay for a VPN. If a website is usually blocked, I simply change my DNS provider to something like NextDNS or AdGuard DNS. Most of the time, this makes the website accessible, and I don’t have to worry about my data being processed by third-party servers. Also, by changing DNS servers, I don’t experience any lag in applications because the data doesn’t need to travel through another server.
The real issue is that not many people, whether for business, jobs, or personal use, truly understand why using a VPN is safe. Those who do get it are willing to shell out up to ₹800 a month without a second thought.
But in India, most users, especially students and others who just use VPNs to access certain websites (you know what I mean), won’t spend a dime.
They don’t care about data privacy or anything like that. Their mindset is more like, “If it’s free and it works, I’m using it.”
I think the people who use it for serious work would be people working remotely from India for other countries and I don’t think they will have any issue in buying premium subscription. And for others, would they even buy?
I have checked windscribe and the price is good. Windscribe also uses tier2 cloud providers to keep the running cost low.
Without any extra features I can provide vpn service at 1usd (excluding taxes). And I can charge 2-3 usd for some added features. I’m the only one in the team rn and cloud infra works on ‘pay as you go model’ model, so initially less users I have to pay less to cloud providers.
I know this product will not gonna work in the Indian market. I am targeting the international customers with the cheap price of just over 1 USD. Will it gonna work?
As far i now, my MOAT is lower pricing. I know this vpn market is on the verge of saturation. I am planning a new product called parental control over vpn. Parents can check, restrict and regulate their kids activities/presence over internet.
With this idea I can gather large concerning parents…
