VPN not working on Comcast network

I’ve had my VPN for about a year now and after switching to Comcast it stopped working. It used to work well on the wireless Xfinity Wifi but now that fails also.

Is there a solution to this problem?

We have made changes to keep employees safe so response and call times may be longer than usual. For immediate assistance, check out the Xfinity Assistant. You can also use Xfinity MyAccount (Web|iOS|Android) and xFi app (iOS|Android) for product and account support.

Try contacting your vpn, they are probably more familiar with any issues.

A VPN is not the be all end all people think they are. Your traffic is only encrypted to the VPN server location. After that, privacy goes out the window. They serve no real purpose other than make people think they are doing something secure.

We have had VPN issues lately as well. When connecting a home user to a business (both Comcast service) we are no longer able to use either IPSec or SSL VPN for them. I can get there via tracert. This was working last week.

So this happened to me when I got a new modem last year. I was so upset because I needed it for work- it became essential in March for obvious reasons.

Mine worked with Comcast for years and as soon as I got the new one it stopped working. I tried everything I could googling different solutions for days. Had advanced tech support looking at it and a tech came out and switched out the modem for a new (but same model) one. I was about to downgrade to the old modem when a few days later it started to work- I figured out it may have been an automatic firmware update to the modem. Hopefully- this is the case for you? Not sure if you can force an update but could be a possibility.

These are Comcast specific failures to connect. There was no problem on Verizon. Does Comcast require something special because of their network security?

I’m not trying to complain. Really I believe Comcast can fix these problem and will if you stay on top of the issues. VPN support isn’t complicated and Comcast knows that.

Your right! I have other purposes besides what the average user pays for. Also it’s important now because my job requires the ability to use a VPN. OpenVPN should work by default anyway, especially on Linux.

Which is the point for most people. It is encrypted going out of your country or ISP, after that, it doesnt matter so much.

Assuming it is a problem multiple people have with that VPN. Then that VPN will probably know about it and might have a fix for it or might have a contact at comcast.
