UI, my problem with AirVPN

I know it may sound provocative, but it’s not. I’m definitely not a hater; in fact, I’m asking this question because, after reading customer reviews and considering its performance and features, I’m genuinely interested in AirVPN. However, I wonder why such a reliable service has such an outdated UI that looks like it’s made for Windows 98, and the lack of an iPhone app.
It seems to me that it’s one of the best VPNs with one of the worst UIs, and I’m a bit hesitant because of that; I know that performance is much more important than graphics, though this is a major drawback for me and many others, from what I’ve read here on Reddit.
So I wonder:

  • Is there a specific reason for this? Perhaps a technical or functional reason that I’m missing?

  • Is it “simply” an economic issue? If that’s the case, then why does practically all the competition, both big and small, have better designs?

  • Is there a substantial UI upgrade planned in the near future?

I don’t use the AirVPN apps at all. I use the WireGuard Windows app and OpenVPN on my mobile devices with with my AirVPN configs.

AirVPN has always been more of a techy solution that the more commercial VPN’s.

i would say the majority of users like my self. use a router for the connection not a desktop computer where we have to use software

What’s crazy is that they actually have a modern logo, they used it in their video on the main website. Despite this, they still use the old logo everywhere.

I am not a user of this VPN service but I’ve read a lot about it before I picked a different one.

At that time, the main reason I found for people who asked the same question was that “it works as it is”.

That’s a good reason, so they are probably more focused on “expert” users rather than “mainstream” users.

you can also use the openvpn client. https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/ but you will miss out on alot of functionality
