So I just upgraded to Windows 10 and TorGuard seems to not work anymore.
When I choose a connection it shows me the usual message: connection x is using y ip
But it doesn’t actually do anything. I’m still using my normal connection, my actual ip shows up on every ip test site.
Why is that?
Edit: I should have mentioned that I’m using Viscosity. I just tried it with the normal TorGuard and now it works. But I kinda need Viscosity to work, because of the killswitch.
Viscosity developer here: The only problems we’ve seen so far is users on an old version of Viscosity that doesn’t include Win10 support, or the adapter driver not carrying over after the update. If this is the problem, it’s as simple as downloading the installer for Viscosity and running it to update the driver. Doing this will keep all your settings and connections. If you are using Torguards bundled version of Viscosity, we recommend you download and run that, otherwise you can grab the Viscosity installer from here - Viscosity - Download - SparkLabs
If you’re still having problems after trying that, take a look at the OpenVPN log for any clues to the problem, and you’re always welcome to contact us directly for assistance: Viewing the OpenVPN Log - SparkLabs
Viscosity developer here. A colleague of mine tried to post earlier, but it looks like his comment may have inadvertently been flagged as spam.
Recent versions of Viscosity shouldn’t have a problem under Windows 10. Thus far the only issue we’ve seen reported are from users running old out of date versions. Updating to the latest version should resolve any issues. As you’re using TorGuard’s bundled version you’ll need to download the latest version from them and install it (there is no need to uninstall your current version first). You won’t lose any of your connections or settings.
If you’re still seeing a problem please take a look at the OpenVPN log in the Details window: Viscosity will output any warnings there. There is no need to change the log verbosity or anything like that.
Finally, please feel free to get in touch with us if you’re still stuck
Not a Viscosity dev or anything, but I am running Windows 10 and the program with no problem. You can run Windows 8 drivers in Windows 10 even you reboot the machine into the mode that allows you to install unsigned drivers so I can’t see where it would be a problem.
Just a heads up, Kaspersky AV was messing up my TorGuard connection after upgrading to Win 10. I had to uninstall Kaspersky to finally reinstall TorGuard correctly. Once TG installed I reinstalled my AV and everything seems to be kosher now.
Viscosity is hit and miss for us, which is why we officially dropped support a while ago. They’ll release updates that break our (pretty standard) client configs and then want us to basically test and validate their software for them.
I’d contact Viscosity and give them a high verbosity log. They’ll fix it when they get around to it.
