I’ve been a paid user of Malwarebytes for around 7 years now, but unless they stop these intrusive and annoying pop-ups advertising their other products or add-ons I won’t be renewing my subscription!
Anyone else feel the same?
Not sure if it is a newly incorporated setting or not, since I’ve only recently purchased Malwarebytes premium plus, but under the settings tab, in the notifications sub-menu, look for the option: “Marketing notifications.”
Switching this setting off has, atleast for me, stopped all marketing and bloat-like pop-ups natively that are geared towards promoting their products and services. Any email or other forms of intrusive reminders/advertising from them can and should be disabled from within your account portal on their website.
For reference this has worked for me on Windows 10, 11, Android OS, iOS & MacOS versions of Malwarebytes.
From what I’ve read on the forums, this setting will only prevent ads that pop-up while the GUI is closed, so that it will not disrupt you and clog your system tray. However, if you are only a premium member and not a premium plus, it seems that you may still receive ads during or after scans while the GUI is open, ones which are specifically showcasing their VPN/Plus upgrade.
Honestly, paying for any subscription tier should nullify their occurrence entirely.
It’s becoming increasingly annoying
Malwarebytes becoming the thing they were so good at removing. The irony…
Same thing that made me stop using Avast tbh, shit as it is it has some good features even on the free version. But the constant pop ups about deals promotions bragging about how many viruses they have stopped globally in the past month. No thank you. That’s bloatware behaviour.

turned off every pop up option and i still get pop ups im about to just uninstall atp
Which platform are you on? I’ve been really disappointed lately with the performance of the app on macOS and iOS; there seems to be vast discrepancies between the functionality and performance of MB across different systems, as they are definitely not all created equal, with some getting special treatment and others forgotten.
