I’m curious if and or how well this works on openwrt? I found a article on surfsharks website showing it possible to setup a wireguard connection on devices manually …one of them openwrt routers. Has anybody done this and if so how simple or difficult was it and how is it performing?
I subscribed to Nordvpn and it’s apparently extremely cumbersome to setup a wireguard vpn without using their client. It seems some have achieved this using special tools from github but you have to have their client connected on a linux server. Without their client and the tools it seems like it’s not possible to get the public / private keys and wireguard endpoint info needed.
I came to the conclusion I’d just rather setup a vpn router on one device and route all traffic I want a vpn connection through it instead of worrying about a client on everything. Support relayed back in my ticket they do not support manual connections via wireguard or what they call “nordlynk”.
So, again it appears surfshark might based on their doc. I’m in the refund window for nord so I’m asking here if anybody got this working since they provide the private and public keys you need in their portal.
I was hoping to use my AC1750 TP-Link router for streaming tv and music…not too bandwidth intensive. Or, I have a old firewall box that I can repurpose.
