Split tunneling should also allow me to only pick one app I want to use the VPN

There’s many things on my phone that I can’t use VPN with but there’s this one app I want VPN on all the time. I really wish I could just have it set to that one app so I don’t have to keep going to the settings Everytime I download a new app.

I’m using android btw

It’s not even that hard. All they have to do is a switch at the top of the code like ‘only these apps’ and ‘all apps except these’. Proton and Nord have this, but many don’t. Either stubborn or stupid.

This is a feature that I really can’t understand other vpn can do it and Mulvad not.

You can use the wireguard app and donwload mulvad config and do it with the app. It is an alternative

There’s at least a workaround for Android (unlike iOS). Use an app that leverages Android’s built in Work Profile functionality. Examples of such apps would be Shelter or Island. I believe some OEMs also similar functionality (Samsung have Secure Folder or something along those lines). Put the apps you want behind the VPN along woth the Mullvad app into that work profile folder. Turn on Mullvad, and only apps in the work profile folder will be tunneled. Every app outside the work profile will not.

Their philosophy does not agree with reverse split tunneling so they will never implement such feature because it’s better if everything is routed.

If you need a vpn only for one app, you don’t need a vpn
