I also feel like Italia is the only one (so far) who really handled whole girl squad vs Sana thing well. That’s one of my biggest issues with the season 4s is that the girl squads end up losing their damn minds and in the end I find myself wondering why Sana is still friends with them? With Italia that didn’t happen. I was actually rooting for them all to makeup.
Late to the party but just finished it it was a great season. You could tell they looked into some of the criticisms of original season and really tried to work on it. The conflict with the girls was reasonable and made you want everyone to reunite again. the Martino and Sana discussion was honestly above the OG Skam’s as well it gave it more time and didn’t allow Martino to pretend being gay was at all equivelent to a hijab wearing woman while still allowing him to get his point about stupid questions needing smart answers across to Sana. I do wish Eleonora hadn’t been gone the entire season but I get that if she was around she probably would have resolved the central conflict.
The only thing I actively disliked was the ending. Why did they move Eva backwards and have her get back with Gio when he still had a girlfriend. The whole point of her season was that she started things wrong with him the first time and they could never get over it. It felt like they moved her back to season 1 Eva for some reason when they could have easily had Gio break up with his GF right before the party and avoid the whole issue.
I didn’t expect it to be so good, I’m pretty sure we have Ludovico Bessegato back as showrunner because it feels deep and stylized like seasons 1 and 2 instead of the shallow stuff we got with season 3.
I wasn’t going to watch it (the OG and SKAM France were enough for me - I’m French) but I absolutely love anything Mehdi Meskar has done (M - a québécois show where he plays an abusive boyfriend or Les Engagés, an LGBT+ French web series where he’s the main character) and I had no idea he spoke Italian! Now, I don’t have a choice
It’s the best Sana season so far. I’m so glad they brought on a Muslim advisor to help guide the show. And Iman even showed up at one point! If it’s a series finale, then it’s a darn good, worthy. I want more though! The finale teased us with the POV of all the other characters. I would’ve loved one Edo POV.
This was unbelievably good, blew way past my expectations, and I would rate it above OG season 4. Ironic that the most problematic remake ended up delivering the best Sana season of all time. I love that the director actually worked with a Muslim woman closely in developing the script. It really comes through, and the end product just shits over the other remakes.
Not gonna lie, I was indifferent towards their first three seasons but season 4 is seriously good. Though one my one major nitpick was how they handled Eva and Gio’s reunion.
Well it’s was like a circular ending to me, as it can be easily be our last season. S01 started with Eva reading Gio’s assignment, S04 finished with Gio reading Eva’s letter. It makes sense to me completely.
Sana’s season is my OG’s favorite season but I was really dissapointed by Skam France and Druck. I wasn’t sure to want an Italian Sana’s season but your comments reassure me. Now I can’t wait to watch it.
