A chrome extension for Outline VPN would be great! thanks
What operating system do you use? Why would a Chrome Extension be better for you than using the client for your operating system?
You can use a Socks5 Chrome Extention - eg. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/shadowsocks/fnhhahhihediajgefcnlpdmnogndblbi
Thanks.
How do I export/get info from the ss://xxx? Ie what is the Base64 part of the URL, the password and the encryption type?
Thanks
after 7 years there is no extension exists
i need it to use vpn only in browser (downloading stuff from steam rn)
Give me extension plsssssssss
Sometimes I use a computer where the administrator does not let me install the client, e.g. public computers, but I am able to install chrome extensions.
My employer doesn’t allow work from abroad, so using a vpn makes the email client inaccessible. I would like to stay connected and with the right applications in Chrome browser.
Thanks - but how do I set up a generic Socks5 Chrome extension to use my Outline VPN server?
If the URL is this - ss://[email protected]:1234/?outline=1
ZZZZ is the base64 part, if you decode this ull get a string like aaaaaa:bbbbbb where aaaaaa should be the encrpytion type and bbbbbb should be the password. The IP address is 000.000.0.0 and port would be 1234.
the Socks5 extension is asking me for:
server address (guess that’s the IP address)
server port?
password?
local port?
encryption?
timeout?
other than the server address, I am not sure what any of these would be from the ss://XXX url…advice?
thanks
OK, thanks for the explanation.
I haven’t used the extension yet! I used the ShadowSocks App on macOS before the official macOS client got released. I generated a QR Code of the ss://xyz… URL and used the Scan QR code from screen function. It worked just fine.
Or You could decode the Base64 part of the URL and get the password and the encryption type. Then use this to configure the chrome extension.
This is only possible if you are also running the Outline Client (or a compatible client) on the same computer, so I don’t think it will address your use case.
Thanks again. But how exactly do I ‘decode’ the URL to get a string like aaaaaa:bbbbb?
And if the port is 1234, i presume that’s the server port? What would the client port then be? Thanks
Thanks, so I think from the above I have been able to decode such that I have:
- the server address
- server port
- password
I’m not sure:
- what the local port should be; or
- the encryption type - the Socks5 chrome extension only has the option of different AES (128/192/256 etc) and RC4 MD5, whereas when I decode the URL it is coming up as chacha20-ietf-poly1305.
thanks
can you find a way out about outline using chrome extension?
