I’m not due to renew until May, but it’s letting me go through checkout with my current account logged in.
If I renew early now with the good deal, will it add the 2 years to my remaining 5 months, or does this start my service over at 2 years (plus the three free months.)

24 months of Plus, at $3.99 a month would be: $95.76
27 months of Plus at $3.99 a month is: $107.73 - which is the price that they’re offering the “2 year subscription + 3 extra months” for.
Same for the other tiers, you’re paying for the 27 months that you get, the “deal” is they’re giving you the option to buy 3 more months on top of a 2 year subscription

Yeah I get what you’re saying.
They market it as 3 extra months that isn’t necessarily free, but gives the illusion it’s free though. Gets my consumer mindset in a frenzy wanting to buy buy buy now. 
Just fyi, Nord always has “really good deals”. It’s not like special or anything. You can get 60-70% off full price pretty much any day if you look up coupon codes.

I’ve just been checking around Black Friday and Christmas every now and then every year to get a good sense of when they do their normal holiday deals.
