Can people recommend an alternative VPN provider that supports port forwarding?
main thing I do not like is IVPN is only good option but they are double the price of mullvad
airvpn are good in terms of ethics and logging etc but are a bit behind in terms of apps and UI etc
I just switched from Mullvad to ProtonVPN which supports port forwarding through NAT-PMP. I used this awesome project to automate requesting a port and binding it to a qbittorrent docker, using gluetun. Highly recommended!

Air vpn, rather cheap, old and known, open source Software and run by activists.
Semi support for streaming.
Awesome Website with tons of features.
Windscribe is a good option. Their DNS customization is excellent.
Here are list of all which support Port forwarding - https://www.reddit.com/r/TheVpnEng/comments/1hys2ls/best_vpns_with_port_forwarding/
TorGuard. If you value speed, price, port forwarding. Half the price of most vpns with random promo codes like “50offallplans”, or any other promo u can find.
Hide.me. If you value streaming, audits, price.
ProtonVPN. If you sacrific a bit of speed, and pay more for more transparency like open source, port forwarding etc.
I’ve made a deeper list of pros/cons of these three on /r/vpncomparison, the only place on reddit to discuss vpns side by side
i really hope they‘ll go bankrupt. what a stupid decision to punish much more good ppl than bad. i know more than a dozen crypto node operators who will switch to other vpn providers. ouch!!!
What about VPN cascading? Is it a viable alternative to port forwarding?
How VPN Cascading works
VPN Cascading is also called double VPN in various scenarios.
VPN 1: The router is used as VPN server. Clients connected to this server will go to Internet using the router’s ISP Network by default.
VPN 2: The router is used as VPN client to 3rd party VPN services.
VPN Cascading: You can forward data of VPN1 tunnel to VPN2 tunnel. So when the Laptop, Desktop and Smartphones (end devices) connected on VPN1 will go to 3rd party VPN services, without any other setup in these end devices.
I gave the airvpn folks a 3 day trial and their speeds are dogshit. Might try torguard next but have heard mixed reviews for them (predominantly negative on reddit stating everyone is a shill and TG is sketch).
ivpn speeds are terible compared to mullvad, i have tried it, got sick of it beeing slow and got a refund…
Yes. Known fact for long time
Nordvpn does not have port forwarding lol…
IVPN just followed suit and stopped port forwarding feature
I moved to Proton VPN but their speeds area absolute garbage. Like reminiscent of dial up days loading images
Can you elaborate? DNS was the one reason I didn’t want to use them. The app doesn’t appear to have a way to customize which DNS server I use.
Their website looks so ugly, wth
Do I get it right they port forwarding only works with a Windows client though?
For anyone looking for a solid, tested method of forwarding ports with ProtonVPN using NAT-PMP, this is the solution using gluetun:

Somebody made a fork for ProtonVPN that will change your port number in qBit automatically when you reconnect. Frustratingly you can’t keep a single port.
