I bought Proton VPN and Mail to support you guys and I have been delight with the service. Keeps the work going! The beta mail and calendar is working well for me. I just need proton drive and I will pretty much set.

Great news!

Come on Bridge next… PLEASE…

Meanwhile, PIA (Private Internet Access) has sold itself to a nefarious corporation.

Good time to switch?

You mad lads did the thing. Well done!

Thank you, Proton guys!

Thats great news, just wish I could afford it for my family…

What are the speeds like when using protonvpn? When I use nordvpn, most times the internet is unusable and I have to turn it off which defeats the purpose…

Not all apps are audited however? As far as I can tell Linux app has not been audited.

Thais great news …but…still patently waiting for a Gui client for linux when that happens I’m all in.

Great move, transparency in VPNs if very important!

Awesome!Great to hear. And now for Bridge!

I’m sure it’s not but would open sourcing make it easier for people to find exploits and undermine the system?

Great, now make %50 discount at yearly sub and I will buy right away

And they hired Mark Karpeles as CTO. Let me be fair and point to their reasoning : https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/blog/2018/04/why-i-hired-mt-gox-ex-ceo-mark-karpeles-as-cto-of-london-trust-media/

This guy lost hundred of millions, he must have learned a lot !

Our philosophy on back-end/infra audits is that they don’t add a lot of trust, because it is impossible to independently verify what is running on the back-end. Infra is also less about code and more configurations, and in this area, there is often a lot less expertise from third parties. For this reason, for infrastructure, we rely more on pen testing, and internal audits and strictly following security best practices.

Visionary account is an excellent deal. Unless your family has more than six people you’d get them encrypted email and enough accounts to put VPN on all their computers and phones for something like 260 EUR a year.

I’ve been using ProtonVPN plus for a while now, and using a server from the same country I’m living in (Netherlands) doesn’t change the result of a internet speed test much. I can’t speak for any other VPN though to compare it with.

I got a week free trial to try out ProtonVPN after downloading the android app, so perhaps you could try it out for yourself with this trial?

When using the Swiss p2p servers for torrents I can hit download speeds over 8MiB/s desktop (Deluge) and ~4MiB/s on Android (LibreTorrent). I’m located in the US, west coast.
