As the title states. I was looking in to Proton Visionary, and also signed up to visionary.
I was a little surprised that visionary doesn’t seem to support static IP as an official option.
I know that you can force the option through using and connecting to the same server location/locations.
I know that Proton Business allows and supports static IP Routing.
Would be nice to see Static IP routing rolled out to Visionary users, as a special extra.
If you’re interested in obtaining one or more dedicated IP addresses from Proton VPN, please contact our Sales team, and we’ll get back to you to discuss your requirements and how we can help.
Seriously though, it can help with remote access to your local network, if you configure it on your router (pfsense/opnsense). This may for some people work out cheaper than going through their ISP to try and obtain a static IP. While providing a degree of privacy as you have a Static IP from the VPN and Dynamic from your ISP.
There are few other reasons that NordVPN suggest are good with Static IP routing
Likely to avoid blocklists
Exclusive to user (This is what i want to use for the Router/Remote Access)
Easy to set up allowlists for IP-restricted resources
Less CAPTCHAs
Argh…
Ok then well I can see how I go but seems like they have their reasons
fair enough,
bit frustrating that they didn’t factor in visionary but at the price point i guess that is reasonable
