Proton Unlimited PLUS one proton mail account - for couples?

Hiya, looking back over this sub i see this has kinda been covered before but i couldnt find the answer to this specific q.

I have proton unlimited, but would like to convince my wife to join me. However.

The family plan is out, too expensive for 2 people, and no, i am not going to share it with random strangers :slight_smile:

2 unlimited accounts is kinda doable but not sure she will ever really care about proton pass or all the unlimited features

would this work?

I have unlimited, she would have a normal proton mail account. I would share my vpn and drive logins with her so she can (albeit clumsily) also acccess those. If i want added security on my email i can alas use 2fa

Would this be clumsy, apart from her needing two logins? What other features would she be missing out on?

I don’t have the answer but I’m in the same boat. They really need a couples plan! Sharing a 1tb Proton drive would be super helpful.

More services in general need to start making Couples’ plans. So many people out there that are married or otherwise in a long-term relationship but with no kids.

Tired of all these family plans priced for large groups when I just need to bundle two together.

Couples Plan…Self Plus One…any name you want to give it, and I’m all for that too!

That will work. I’m on the same boat. I have unlimited and my wife is on Mail Plus. If she’s anything like my wife, she’ll probably never ever open things like the VPN. and the day she needs it, she will need to login, because its been so long since you logged her in that the app logged her out… LOL. I just kept her on the free plan. and I use 2FA and the 2 password setup on my account.

no couples plan is the only reason im not paying for any proton service.

Pretty common pain point Proton creates with their pricing model. It seems very intentional and leads me to look for alternatives which instead have flexible customer friendly pricing models.

It seems like all of you need to go use their suggest a feature feature to suggest adding a couple’s account

My partner is on Mail Plus and uses VPN and Simplelogin of my unlimited account. Would prefer a proper couples plan though.

The vast majority of my friends are in a couples situation, either without kids or the kids have fledged.

Much better pricing than a family plan? Two Mail Essentials (business) would be 14 Euro a month against 24Euro for Family- we only want Mail but need to share the same custom domain
