Why are there so many problems when trying to open link from a Google search or in certain applications. I shouldn’t have to turn off my VPN just to open a link
Hey.
Let’s quickly change the connection protocol. To do so, go to the Surfshark app - Settings - VPN Settings - Protocol. Select the OpenVPN (UDP) option and try to connect. If the issue persists, try the other protocols as well!
If the issues persist, do contact our support (via email at [email protected] or live chat via the website: https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us ).
This has been happening to me the last 3 weeks it’s so annoying I keep having to reconnect so many times before it’s actually working. They really need to improve this crap
I’ve been having problems with Surfshark, connections for the past month and today nothing is working except for Indonesia
Had the same problems. Never was able to get it properly fixed. Took a chargeback. Hope it gets sorted out for you!
It also keeps happening to me. Google forces me to pass CAPTCHA so often when using Surfshark. I guess they really want to spy on us better without a VPN
been happening to me for months
so i disabled that vpn, because its useless
The address bar says googleadservices.com. Are you sure this is not the ad blocker?
Hi there, /u/Efficient_Step5919, thanks for your submission!
Please keep in mind that while some support agents are keeping an eye on here, we still recommend using official channel for more efficient and faster troubleshooting - Surfshark customer support first. You’ll find both e-mail and live chat there. It’s 24/7, so enjoy!
Additionally, please make sure to include as much information as possible, so our agents could troubleshoot more precisely. Thank you!

Today I spent all day chatting with customer support to no avail.
Their wireguard protocol has stopped working with the 4.9.5 release yesterday. Their iKEv2 is working but much slower on the most recent Mac OS and iOS. On the old macOS Big Sur o still get 350Mbps while in the Ventura I get 130Mbps.
This means the VPN is working as it’s supposed to do. The connection is shared between a lot of people to obfuscate the activities of the individual. To google and other services this looks like a bot action, because in the real world there are no dozens or hundreds of users using the same IP at the same time.
To those who use the app to connect to the VPN, if websites are blocked entirely it is very possible that Cleanweb is responsible for it, because it blocks certain trackers and adds that appear suspicious or are known malicious. Looking at the screenshot provided in the op the googleADservice jumps right into my face. Maybe, just maybe, this ad service and tracker has to do with sites not loading.
All I can say is, I don’t use the Surfshark apps but manual connection and never ever were I blocked out of a website like this, because I use different tools to block malicious or suspicious scripts/ads/whatever. Yes, I do get CAPTCHAs like others, because this is the nature of using a VPN.
It’s when you do a good search and click on the link. Let’s say Amazon, Delta, Marcy’s whatever
That’s a big pile of bollocks. This happens only to computer illiterates who have zero clue how to fix minor issues other than using a sledgehammer.
The first few results are usually ads, thus blocked by the ad blocker. Look for the “Sponsored” label.

Sounds like you clicked actually the few entrys which are ads and hence get blocked because these are literal ads.
go to the 4th entry the non ad ones.
Has nothing to do with fan boy, but reinstalling the OS because there is a problem with the network is like buying a new car because the ash tray is full - makes zero sense. But you do you.
It’s hard for you to imagine that there are more people without any serious problems with the VPN than there are people with problems, eh?! You see “a lot” of complaints that this and that doesn’t work, but this is the nature of the internet. It’s the 2-5% of people who have problems who post their complaints, the other 95-98% who don’t have problems with the service have no reason to post.
Think about yourself, how often do you buy something or use a service that works great and how often do you go on the internet to post about it. Doesn’t happen, right?! But as soon as even a minor thing doesn’t work “woah, i have to write a multi-page complaint and make sure to post this on as many forums as possible that everyone can read how bad xyz is”. Yeah …
