I downloaded the latest .run file directly from PIA’s website, and that seemed to work at first, but now I’m getting the same thing. PIA is running in the KDE system tray, but when I try to actually open the app it immediately crashes. I try to Restart or Run in Safe Mode and it has no effect.
Anyone else seen this and know a fix?
Appears to have been a X11 vs Wayland issue, as commentors mentioned below. PIA pushed out 3.5.7 and it appears to be fixed now.
I ran into the same issue and found this solution on the kde forum.
The AUR package seems to be working fine.
IIRC those are profiles for OpenVPN, I’m running the actual PIA app downloaded from their site. It’s been running fine for years, only breaking now after the KDE 6 upgrade
The one I run is the desktop app piavpn-bin. It looks just like the one from the website, but upgrades via yay so I don’t have to go download updates. Looks exactly like the one from the website I use on my windows laptop.
