Hello, I have an OpenVPN setup on my DS218play, it works very well, and I can access my files via SMB. However, this doesn’t change the location. The NAS is in France, and I would like to appear as if I am located there instead of my current location.
What configurations should I set for this to work?

Your VPN server output IP address should be in the French IP range.
Commercial VPN providers maintain VPN servers in several countries hence you can appear to be in a different location.
The latest version of OpenVPN doesn’t route all the traffic trough the VPN by default.
You need to add:
push “redirect-gateway def1”
to the server configuration.
Then try again testing your IP.
By an IP location website, when i’m using another VPN such as Tunnel Bear, it locates me to the country that I chose. But when I try with mine it won’t change. I checked with your website and same thing, my VPN don’t change anything and the TunnelBear change the location.
Ok, but my VPN (NAS) is in France. So it should be outputting a french IP ?
